After whizzing through a few household tasks - like sawing wood! - we took ourselves off to see the newly hatched osprey chicks near Machynlleth. Last year there were only eggs, but this year 3 chicks hatched. Its the first time in many years that ospreys have bred in this area. Of course you can only see through a telescope which has been trained on the nest, and through CCTV cameras via a big screen in the shop/ wildlife trust centre. The parent birds are huge and spectacular, the chicks kept very still when mum was away, and looked just like sticks in the nest.

As we were so close to the sea and it was such a beautiful day, we spent an hour or two at Ynys Las, on the opposite side of the estuary from Aberdovey. Haven't been there for years, you park on teh beach and its lovely.
