Background: Great Britain, the dominant industrial and maritime power of the 19th century, played a leading role in developing parliamentary democracy and in advancing literature and science. At its zenith, the British Empire stretched over one-fourth of the earth's surface. The first half of the 20th century saw the UK's strength seriously depleted in two World Wars. The second half witnessed the dismantling of the Empire and the UK rebuilding itself into a modern and prosperous European nation. As one of five permanent members of the UN Security Council, a founding member of NATO, and of the Commonwealth, the UK pursues a global approach to foreign policy; it currently is weighing the degree of its integration with continental Europe. A member of the EU, it chose to remain outside the Economic and Monetary Union for the time being. Constitutional reform is also a significant issue in the UK. The Scottish Parliament, the National Assembly for Wales, and the Northern Ireland Assembly were established in 1999, but the latter is suspended due to bickering over the peace process.

So I started one of those countdown clocks, apparently its 2 months, 4 weeks and 2 days until marc and I leave home and make the long journey back to asia. It seemed only yesterday we were there to be honest, though my mind is a little flaky when marc will say 'oh do you remember the road side that we stopped off on the way to Krabi?' me- 'no...oh wait yeah the one with all the women serving really hot curry and then laughed at me when I asked which one was the mildest?', 'no, the one where it was [View Full Entry]

Well I am currently watching some Welsh boys play "football" on the PS3 while I upload some pictures onto facebook. You should check them out, there are quite a lot and just of Scotland. By the time I'm done there will be a crap load of pics on facebook...it is absolutely ridiculous. And I'm not even putting them all on :) I have over 600 pics!! When I was in Edinburgh, it was absolutely wonderful. The entire city is all old buildings with random modern buildings mixed in. The weather was a little cold, which would normally be fine but I [View Full Entry]

We had a whirlwind couple of days in Preston packing and sorting last minute details before hiring a car and cruising down the M6 in some spectacularly miserable weather to Wales. We arrived in Cardiff to find it green and pretty and wet. My digs are some fairly depressing nurses quarters with small rooms similar to college but less well maintained! Mick spent the first couple of nights at a local YHA with some weird residents. One guy would ask him each day where he was from and then ignore any further attempts at conversation…. Since then he’s been slumming it [View Full Entry]

Cardiff---The liveliest city of Britain After 4 ½ years, I decided in Easter time to give in the withdrawal syndrome and visit Britain, the country where as a student I had one of the best years of my life. Avoiding all the places I’ve lived at, as I felt nostalgia is not suitable for Springtime, I decided to visit a dear friend in Reading and make that my base. Taking advantage of the fact that he wasn’t working in Easter, we decided to take small trips to places I’ve always wanted but never quite got around to visit. And since [View Full Entry]

Greetings all We left South America and flew to spain where we spent a night in Madrid and then flew onto London to begin the next part of our trip. We were moving to the UK to work and save up money so we could go travelling through Europe. Many people had told us that getting set up was the most expensive part of moving anywhere let alone a different country. however luckily for us Peters friend Tom was playing rugby in the UK and had offered to pick us up from the airport. We walked out of the gate to [View Full Entry]

Bute Park becomes marvelous during Springs. Flowers are blossom and millions of them come out from the tip of every single branch. You will spontaneously indulge yourself with their wonderful colours and tangy scents. I managed to get a chance to take some snaps before they vanished in a couple of weeks. [View Full Entry]

Amy's big day finally arrived! We had a lovely dinner with all her friends at some quaint little chinese restuarant - where you just arrive and sit at these long tables and read menu's which is a bit like playing baldedash! And then get this wonderful surprise when your food arrives and you get to actually see what it is! The service on sunday morning was really special, and so encouraging as Amy shared about God's faithfulness in her life, and how He has "ruined her for the ordinary". Life just isnt the same once you've met the creator of the [View Full Entry]
