We've de-minimalised it with our mess. 29 May Update
Today we walked for 6 hours (in light drizzle) exploring the inner areas of Cardiff including Cardiff Castle. http://www.cardiffcastle.com/content.asp
The furnishings and interior design within the latter built parts of the castle are both interesting and eccentric. The interior designer had travelled to Australia with Charlie Darwin apparently hence there are some carvings on some of the bookshelves showing our Platypus.
The shopping precincts within Cardiff are impressive and there is an interesting mix of both old and modern architecture with old arcades snaking their way between pedestrian malls. It all works very well. The town managers have done well to exclude a large chunk of the inner city to vehicles. Later on in the day we wandered down to the bay area where there was sooo much more to see and do, but our energy levels were waning, so we jumped on a bus and headed back for a siesta.
We’re heading off to the town of Bath in the morning and we’ll have only one night there so will try to grab an early morning train to maximise our time. Accommodation still very difficult to get at short notice! Glad we bought the
Cardiff clothing shop
An interesting shop front for a clothes shop! lap-top to trawl the relevant booking sites. Note for future – book well ahead!!! Ad-hoc can be stimulating, but tedious when the only responses are “sorry we’re fully booked”.
