Today was the day for Caernafon!!! I woke up earlyish and woke everyone up getting ready. Of course s2 slept in the computer room making it very convienent for me! Anyways Simon got up after awhile and made me a cup a tea and i had some breaky to prepare for a long day. I took the train to Chester and transferred to Bangor.Lovely train ride it was super rainy but I saw the Irish Sea and tons of hills with sheep and all that countryside splendour. From Bangor it took awhile to get a bus to the castle. Also it was pretty expensive but it ended up working out pretty well for me.
Once i got to Caenarfon I asked the bus driver how to get to the castle and he insisted he didnt know!!! What a twat he was probably the biggest dick i had met yet. Oh well not bad for being here a week already. I started walking around and it was pretty obvious once i got through town where the damn castle was!!! I still wasnt sure when I finally did find the castle that this was THE castle so i asked the lady at the
booth. She had a good laugh and i said well "I dont know" hahaha.
I went through the castle on my own walking up the tiny steps. Quite the ways up to the top i had a ton of trouble tripping up and down. It was worth the trip up tho for sure. I came to a part of the castle where there was a whole bunch of medals which all the royalty handed out for wars oh what not. But NO pictures at all!!! That was pretty stupid i think. I got some anyways, screw it i thought im taking pictures im only here once. So i did, I went through that part and walked on towards the museum down the hallway! They have a royal goat that is part of army battalion. HAHAHA only the welsh eh. I got a picture of it hopefully its alright. So after the castle i was looking for something else to do to get as much Welsh culture as possible. But really there wasnt a whole lot to do. I tried for the Maritime Museum but of course they close at 430!! So i went to the grocery store and got myself
a couple sandwhichs and 4 John Smiths!!! Luckily the bus stop was right in front cause it was very close to raining by then. I talked to the lady at the stop with me for awhile. She asked me if I liked castles, and i said YA but then she told me that Welsh people dont like castles because they symbolize the Oppresion of the English....I can understand but how long ago was that!!! Well i stood there for awhile after she got on her bus and i was getting a bit annoyed after letting like 5 buses pass. So i just started waving and the traffic had backed up a bit so the bus driver opened his door and said "im not supposed to stop but get on" and i didnt even pay!!! I was pleased because the bus was kind of expensive like 4 pounds one way so i was happy.
Once i got back to Bangor I walked to the station to figure out when the bus was and I ran into my pal S2!!! Ha i couldnt believe it he was having a smoke thinking about his next move. He had caught the same train as
me just a few hours after me, with his bike and all his gear. Crazy he said it was rough getting it all on. He made me lift up the tire and god it must have been like 60 pounds at least. Then he had a backpack as well. I told him to go down the hill but he decided against that and took the massive hill up!!! I had a good laugh i must say watching him thinking about his journey to come!!! The train was alright although there were four Americans talking the whole time to this British bloke who looked like Mr Bean but 40ish, about getting free medical care by pretending to be Canadians!! Ah well
Then i got back to Port Sunlight and called Simon up and he already had plans for me. There were three other couch surfers who wanted to meet up in Liverpool. We went to a place called the Casa where there was a Salsa club inside i found out later. We had some drinks and talked about couchsurfing and their worst experieces which there were few and far between.
After we went for a bite to eat at the Bistro.
The three of them had to catch a train back and they ended up leaving us with a friend of theirs that lived in Liverpool who had just finished his degree in Electrical Engineering. Nice guy but we said goodbye after a couple mins.
Then we went to Simons friend who lived on the campus at Liverpool. This is like half of the town as well. HUGe campus. All the hookers hang out there as well kinda funny. Simon said its for convience for the business blokes to get a quick blow on their way home to the wife!! OUCH Simons friend was called Simon as well and he was a mathmetician. Nice guy he had metal posters and guitars all over his flat from his roomie. He made us a cup of tea we chatted about their trip to Scotland with a £100 car. Then we went home. On the way he was feeling brave with his new car he had back on the road again and im glad i had my seatbelt on!!! He spun out a couple times through the city turning in the rain!! It was a bit of good fun cause he had it all
under control.
We stopped at Tesco on the way home for a sandwhich because i hadnt eaten yet. When we got home we had some cheese and beer and talked into the wee hours of the morning....like 330 then i stayed up till 7 writing my Blog!! Im a slave to this site now i have so many readers!!! HHAHAHAHa naaa i enjoy reliving it all again.
