Sunday 22nd June - evening

Arrive in Skye with no plans. Drove 13 miles down single lane to Elgol. Gorgeous harbour. Went for walk, climbing over rocks on beach. Dead end road. On way back, parked up by Loch Slapin for our first night of wild camping.

Monday 23rd June

Woken up at 5am by a sheep using van as a scratch post. Set off planning to stop at Broadford, second largest village on island but nothing really there. At Sligachan we wandered along pretty stream and made statues out of the rocks/stones. Moe had to keep redoing his as his competitive streak meant he had to make the tallest. Carried on to Neist Point, furthest point west on Skye. Unfortunately, the cloud had closed in on us and couldn't see lighthouse. Stayed for lunch but no sign of change so moved on to Dunvegan Castle. Strolled around castle and got drenched going around the garden. Benefit of motorhome meant we could get changed straightaway. Stayed night in campsite just outside Portree. Had fantastic seafood platter in pub and watched first half of Brazil vs Cameroon. Glad of electric bike as all uphill to campsite.

Tuesday 24th June

Drove around the North East penisula. More stunning scenery including Lealt Gorge and Kilt Rock waterfall. Arrived early at Uig for ferry so enjoyed a drink after visiting Brewery shop and pottery. Moe decided to get out of van whilst eating to crisps to take a photo of ferry coming into harbour. Not a good idea, as camera fell to ground so only phone available for picture taking. Obviously Moe not happy. England didn't help either only drawing with Costa Rica. TV on ferry showed match. Late arriving on Harris so took main road South to Horgabost campsite. Beautiful white sand beach with mountains. Fantastic evening watching sun go down.

Wednesday 25th June

Followed the golden road around South Harris, stopping at medieval St Clements church. Dramatic rocks and stunning views abound. Briefly stopped at Tarbert. Trip North to Lewis took us past loads of deep blue lochs. Went to wild campsite at Uig Sands but Moe decided that it was too much of a carpark so followed original plans of campsite by Reef Beach at Cnip. Absolutely amazing place. Couldn't ask for a more stunning view. Mile long of white sands, sand dunes, clear blue sea and rocky islands. Blue skies meant another glorious sunset.

Thursday 26th June

Making the most of stunning views and amazing weather (except for the wind) and stayed put for the day. Having driven over 900 miles, Moe needed to take a break and chill out. Went for a walk, read a book and watched Wimbledon and football as amazingly have TV reception.

Friday 27th June.

Carried on with journey. Great Bernera went to see Iron Age house that had been reconstructed. Stopping and walked around Callanish Standing stones which were pretty impressive. Drive down to Butt of Nevis a bit disappointing, much flatter, more like a moor. Views at lighthouse at the end were lovely though. Now at Storoway library with wifi, awaiting ferry at 8.45 to Ullapool. Hoping to have great meal first.
