We are spending our rest day in the small town of Kingussie, waiting out a May snowstorm in the last mountains we have to cross before Inverness and the final push to John O'Groats. We have now planned the entire rest of the trip to the Orkneys -- pretty exciting. Just have to wait for the temperatures to get back above 40 tomorrow and we are back on our way. There are some good stories to write from this section as well, and they may eventually show up here. But, just this short report for now and some photos for your enjoyment.

This is from the vantage point of sipping tea in our hotel in Kingussie where we are holed up for the day. With luck we will be crossing these to Inverness tomorrow.

Irn Bru is a popular Scottish soft drink made from a secret recipe for over 100 years. Before the cold weather hit it was actually warm enough that we needed these on our afternoon cafe stop.

Cycling adventures
Wow, what an adventure you are all having! You laughing at the weather sign reminded me of us laughing at the "Ask a ski patroller" sign on the MTTA trail. I'm sure you weren't expecting snow in the hills to impede your journey at this time of year. The Irn Bru floats sound interesting. I guess it is not really something you can bring back to share... Seeing "Dolly" is pretty fun too. I am enjoying your posts and look forward to receiving them.

snow!
I felt for you guys when I read of the snow storms across Grampian and the Cairngorm mountains last week - a foot of snow in places! Trust the suns been out since and helped you thaw! It is downhill to Inverness, if you have a chance to stop at the Black Isle Brewery for a tour and sample I'd take the detour. All the best!
