The past week has been busy. I have been traveling between fishing venues to help out the time figure out what is working. Ive been the the River Tay and Loch Leven. Most beautiful places I have ever seen.
The River tay is very long running through a little town called Stanley. Parts of the Tay river are private areas owned by wealthy families. Luckily we were allowed onto this private areas for the competition. Large homes sitting on the river, talk about living the dream.
Leven is very big and I could not make it around the whole Loch, but i did manage to do some site seeing. A ferry took my over to the Leven Castle island where Mary Queen of Scots we imprisioned during Elizabeth's rulling in England. Great story..too long to tell right now. Basically the ruins of the prison were quite impressive. I sure did not look like a prison. Many interesting bird life on the island. Got some pictures of some birds I still have to figure out what kind they where.
Then I walked through Kinross Garden where a huge mansion sits in the middle to the garden. very impressive. Along with this I walked through a cemetary where head-stones dated back to the 1800. Very old and large. A decendent of Rob Roy was buried there. Quite impression head-stone.
The comptition was great. Chris didnt get to fish the first day as he was designated as an alternate. However, the rest of the competion he fished his heart out, with catching a fish on one of the hardest Lochs (Leven). Only 5 fish about of 25 anglers were caught during his session. Along with this, the fact he caught a fish and beat last years world's gold medelist during that session enable his team-mate Donald to win the individual Silver medel. Everyone was celebrating last night until the wee-hours of the morning. It was great. Overall the team placed 9 in the world which is one of the best placing they have ever had, plus Donald was the first Canadian to win a medal at the worlds...of course Chris is still the first medal winner for international competition to have brough a medel home for canada.
So now we head to the most beautiful place in the world..at least that is what I have been told. We are excited and the boys should do well now that they are all warmed up from the Worlds.
Hope to write again before we leave, but not sure if there will be internet in Islay. See you all in just over a week.
