Well, the weather sure does shift when you fly halfway around the world....after about2 1/2 months of tempuratures in the high 80's or low 90's, we're in Glasgow, where is it is grey, rainy, and in the 40's....we love it!
We shipped some clothes from Tokyo over to London and it feels so nice to wear fresh clothes with my Tokyo coat, hat, and shoes back into the wardrobe. The timing couldn't have been better as pretty much all the clothes I've been wearing over the past couple months are threadbare and ready for the bin.
It feels really nice to have to wear a sweater and jeans again and it feels a lot like Washington State. In fact, a large part of England and, so far, what we've seen of Scotland look remarkably like Washington. Glasgow is really great and feels sort of like the great-grandmother of Bellingham's Fairhaven district; lots of old brick building and classic architecture...I think we're really going to love Europe.
We're meeting up with a friend tonight yo who's originally from Glasgow and moved back last year, so it should be fun to be shown around by a local and it's been so great to have the opportunity to meet up with so many friends we made in Japan on this trip.
We'll be driving around Scotland and heading into the Highlands this weekend before meeting up with Jen and Matt in Dublin on Wednesday!
Cool!
sorry, I forgot to add that we got a new sim card for our phone and should be able to answer calls pretty much the whole time we're in Europe;
the number is +44 787 666 1712
After a much needed recovery from India at Chris and Lavina's house, we are fully ready to see some more of the world!

i spent my jr year of college @ st. andrews... you'd have to take the bus there from Edinburgh but it's a beautiful little town w/ cobbled streets, slate roofs at the university, castle ruins etc. I also loved castle ruins in Essex and in many other places. But it's probably more important to get to the Henges, and maybe Glastonbury Tor if you get near there. How long are you in Europe and where else are you headed? have a great time!
