Hey all...
Well... it's been quite a week here! Sunday (after the wedding) was brilliant. Ina, myself and Andrea did NOTHING but sit at the kitchen table, eat and play on the computer. It was awesome. Such a great, restful day.
Monday Ina left us for her 10 day tour of the west of the republic... She's lovin' life right now! The west is the best! Have a blast, Ina... we miss you. Monday, Tuesday we worked on the farm... enjoy some of the picts. Wednesday we spent the day in Enniskillen passing out flyers for the farm events happening through the fall and winter. Enniskillen is much better during the day, but still not the best.
Thursday morning we worked on the farm and then went with Teresa to Omagh and passed out flyers there. What an awesome little town. The night before we had watched the movie Omagh (about the bombings) and so it was good to visit there as I had seen the movie a while back and was always curious. The people there are REALLY nice. Love Tyrone people we decided! Thursday evening was a blast. We went into Irvinestown to play music at
Teresa & InaTeresa borrowed this car and was able to give Ina a lift back to the bus in style!
Sissy's. So nice and calm and we met some really fun people.
Friday we worked on the farm and also Andrea and I walked into Irvinestown to pass out some flyers. Friday Claire (from Liverpool) arrived so then we had 3 volunteers! Friday afternoon I went into town to talk to the hotel about working and he asked me to start at 6 (that was only a couple hours away) and on top of that, I had no blacks. So... I RAN to the shoe store, bought a pair and then to the Red Cross (salvation army) and picked up some clothes for just £3.50!!!!! Couldn't believe it. Went home in a tizzy and then calmed myself down. I was nervous because I didn't know what I would be doing.
So I got there and Aidan and Vincent trained me (fast) and then they decided to throw me into a wedding that was at the hotel. Yeah. I was the ONLY person taking drink orders and clearing glasses for a wedding of 200 people! Now, mind you... I have NO experience waitressing, carrying trays, anything. And... the wedding was downstairs and the bar was upstairs for the first
2.5 hours. So, imagine this... I walk to table A (12 people) and take their drink orders, clear their glasses, return to the bar, give the slip with the orders, go to table B and take their orders, clear their glasses, return to the bar, pick up orders for table A, deliver table A's orders, take their money, go back to the bar, get table B's drinks and give the money for table A, deliver table B's drinks, collect table B's money and glasses from table C, deliver table A's change... ARGH! you get the point. That was solid for 9 straight hours... they closed the bar at 3 am I was sleeping by 5. It was the HARDEST thing I have ever done and I'm still recovering from it! The people were really nice though and I made a bit of money. Just not sure how often I can do that...
Especially... because the next day we had a full day on the farm.
And... we cleared nettles and tomato plants that were dead, removed clippings from hedges, replanted beds, shoveled horse shit (Inducting myself into the shit shovelers union!)... it was a hard day's work! That
afternoon two more volunteers arrived (that makes 5! The most they've had) from Israel. Nadav and Boaz... they are sleeping in the Tee Pee. We had a huge dinner with 9 people in the barn... mmmm... lasagne. Then we went to Dromore for a small music festival and had such a blast. We played and drank and drank... good night out. Returned home and plugged in some Christmas lights and turned up the music (it's a miracle no one heard us) and has a blast with a bit of a disco in the kitchen! So much fun.
Today we had the day off (thank god) and I just relaxed a bit and had some quite time by myself.
It's monday tomorrow!!!!
More diggin' and movin' and stuff!
Hope all is well :)
smiles.
