Today we went up to the mournes in our group. We decided to go up to Hare's gap. As a group we went up the trassy track. today i learnt how to take a magnetic bearing off a map and using a compass. We learnt as a group to always have the compass pointing on the map in the direction of which you are travelling. i learnt to look in the direction of travel from the bearing which you get from the map and chose a natural feature to walk towards. This was the first time in the mournes for me, reading off a map. so it was all very new. the personal traits that i have developed would be my team work. we had to help eachother to try and read the maps and take bearings. we had to stick together as a group. and go as fast as the slowest person. i also developed my communication skills whilst up the mournes. we had to be clear to each other as to where we were going. for future i will try to improve my fitness levels and practice taking a bearing from a compass.
