The ever popular American President--who is now officially "brainless" thanks to Carl Rove!
So... having travelled through eastern europe, we decided to recouperate at casa quickfall, in the gloriously splendid and exotic west wycombe (if you don't get the joke, you should use google maps). Andy and Lorna were perfect hosts, and we lounged around for several days, taking it easy, watching TV etc. They cooked a couple of good meals and it was great to have some quiet catch up time with them and get to know them both again... or something. I find the concept of films influencing where we travel to on holiday and what we do whilst there a fascinating area. I have been to quite a few destinations associated with certain movies eg. Vienna (Austria): beautifully showcased in Carol Reeds 'The Third Man' (1949) Matmata (Tunisia): setting for the Planet Tataouine in the Star Wars films (1977 onwards) Dingle (Ireland): dramatic setting for David Lean's epic movie 'Ryan's Daughter' (1970) Is anyone else influenced by movies to visit particular places ? or take movie tours etc whilst at destinations ? Is anyone else interested in the whole concept of film tourism ? or been influenced by movies to visit particular places ? eg. Braveheart & Scotland, Lord of the Rings & New Zealand, The Beach & Thailand, The Quiet Man & Ireland, Casino Royale & The Bahamas etc I think this is a very interesting area and that movies probably do influence us more in our holiday choiced that we even realise sometimes.
