Tuesday 5th June Broke my record, got home in 19min 55sec, average speed 26.9km/hr. Not bad for London's streets. Riding can be hairy to start with, but (Don't worry Mum!) a lot of people do it and you get used to it. It's good fun dragging off other cyclists till the next set of lights, I beat most off the line and by the time the serious riders have clipped in I've usually got a bit of a head start. The buses are the worst culprits on the road, they'll pull in front of you, then proceed to immediately pull over into a bus stop, leaving no gap on the left, forcing you to go around the right. Most other vehicles are good at leaving a bit of space though and the traffic never gets faster ... read more

Oh, what a needed and very much appreciated break from the city!!! Well, it wasn't much for the city...I love London, but it was good to go to a seaside town, well, yeah, especially for it being a SEASIDE town!! I can't even remember the last time I had gone to the beach... Weekend was all good! Started with a night out on Friday with the bosses! It was most excellent... out for dinner at a really cool restaurant, lots of champagne and wine, then off to a Chelsea club with heaps more of Jäger and vodka with my bosses Jackie and David and David's hilarious friend Marc. Saturday night out locally with the German-Croatian neighbour exploring the great variety of bars and pubs of Fulham. Sunday early morning, Victoria Station to meet my friend Craig ... read more

We made it... we're here ('think that we'll use that as the opening line to all of our future entries...?). 36 hours of travelling (we missed our first connection in Ireland and had to wait almost 5 hours for another one) finally got us to Amersham, and the safe-haven that is the home of my aunt and uncle, Christine and Paul. Very good food, comfortable beds, suitably delinquint son who is very useful as a beer-oriented tour guide! Spent the first couple of days recovering from the flight over. Then stayed at Ken's (delinquint son of Christine and Paul) friday and saturday night. He lives in London with his soon to be wife Jo (hanna Webb), and a couple of pretty 'hip' friends of his, Will and Emma. Went to Camden Market on saturday; crazy ... read more

There is no way to describe everything I saw. It is so interesting and there is so much to see that it is impossible to give a good description. Also in most of the places I could not take pictures. I have added some of the pictures I do have. I did buy the guides to the houses and there are some pictures in them. June 4th Arrived in Stratford; stayed in Holiday Inn the first night b/c I had a migraine and the two mile walk to the youth hostel was out of the question. I did walk a little bit around the town centre after my migraine medicine kicked in. I had only intended on staying one night in Stratford but I decided to stay two nights because I did not get to do ... read more

I set out for Shrewsbury fairly early in the morning. I took the train up there and dropped my stuff off at the National Express left luggage facility. The train station is located in the bottom half of a mall. It is called the Darwin Shopping Center after Charles Darwin! I did not know that Shrewsbury was Charles Darwin's birthplace. I did get to see some displays on him and his work though. I only spent a couple of hours in Shrewsbury because there was really only one thing I wanted to see. One of my favorite series of books are the Brother Cadfeal mysteries written by Ellis Peters. The books are set in the 1300's at Shrewsbury Abbey. The remaining parts of the abbey are very much like Ellis Peters described it. Most of the ... read more

Press Release issued by me With the growing interest in locally produced foodstuffs, do you know how the food on your plate is produced? There was an opportunity to find out at Shotford Hall Farm near Harleston on Sunday 10th June, which opened their farm as part of a national event ‘Open Farm Sunday’. Hosting such an event for the first time, Tim Lewis, Tenant Farmer, had no idea whether to expect 30 or 300 visitors, and in the event had over 500 coming through the gates. Clearly finding the day enjoyable, many visitors stayed for several hours, with much to see: machinery could be climbed on, animals (calves, cows, sheep, chickens, and a bull) could be seen, egg-production was explained, information about crops grown (wheat, barley, sugar beet, maize, vining peas, oil seed rape and ... read more
