Hello everyone!! I am writing to you from London in a youth hostel. A girl from my trip, Erin, and I got in around noon, and have had all sorts of adventures since. After a long red-eye flight with little sleep, we made an educated guess as to which "tube" (London underground subway) station to get off on. Well, we made the wrong guess and ended up walking a very long way with our huge backpacks and carry-ons. Luckily, Londoners are very nice and we were asked by several people if they could help point us in the right direction. We made it! Our hostel is...interesting. Let's just say it isn't as nice as the pictures on the internet looked...However, we are in a nice neighborhood. After we got our stuff locked away in our hostel, Erin and I headed out to the city. The Londoners have different sort of street signs than back at home, and it was very hard and took long for us to find where some friends are staying in London for their study abroad journey. We ended up being able to hang out with them at their flat for awhile tonight, and though we haven't even been here a day, it was so so so nice to see familiar and friendly faces. We also went down to one of London's neighborhood called Picadilly Circus (The times square of London) That was a fun area, and we had fish and chips at a pub down there. We also went down and saw Big Ben (BEAUTIFUL), and took a ride on the London Eye.
Overall, we are exhausted because of getting little to no sleep on the plane last night, adventuring around all day, and the time change is throwing us off a little while. Tomorrow we are going to take a tour of Buckingham Palace, walk to Harrods, perhaps hit a few museums? We aren't completely sure. Overall, I am ready to be settled into my program in Athens. It is all a little overwhelming, but I have learned a LOT about traveling so far. Love and miss you all.
