It doesn't seem real...
That pretty much somes up the mood of the moment really. My training is nearly complete as is my list of kit. Thanks to Helen for getting me my last few odds and ends.
Apparently Gikgo Biloba is an alternative remedy to Alitude sickness, who would have guessed.
Feel reasonably confident in all my kit now as well and I've even started growing a beard to kee my face warm :) (any old excuse)
My first stop will my the Kathmandu Guest House in Thamel,Nepal. Comparitive luxury compared to parts of the trek. Kinda glad actually. What with the complete culture shock i'm pleased that i'll be easing in gently.
Kathmandu Guest House Last weekend I finished my last 4 hour walk just one 1 hour to go!
Bought an excellent book at the weekend called 'Trekking in the Everest region' . Needless to say I think it is going to be invalable!
bits from the book..
'Beware of the water in Thamel, Kathmandu when the WHO last tested it it had 10 times the recomm. amount of faecal matter in'
'Namche Bazaar will probably be the last chance you get to use the internet.' Yes even the internet has made it to this small Sherpa capital.
Besides that it's crammed with great information about the environment, peple and politics of the region so for those that know me well you can imagine how pleased I am about that. (yes seriously)
Oh I also got in the local paper, The Daily Echo - take a look at the article in the gallery.
