The Malvern Hills 18th-25th February 2016 Listen a moment. Above the whisper of a chill winter breeze a buzzard calls, a shrill mewing cry from high up there beyond the hills, soaring gracefully on broad wings across a cloud scattered sky. Such is the joy of the English countryside; those special moments when nature surprises us all with its delightful sights and sounds. Enjoy the panorama slideshow. The Buzzard has become a common sight across the UK in recent years after decades of persecution and it is now known to nest in every county in the country. Its significant presence above the Malvern Hills of Worcestershire and Herefordshire is recognized by a recent sculpture by Polish sculptor Walenty Pytel in the Rosebank Gardens of Great Malvern, commemorating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year. This time we’re here ... read more

Starting from the beginning... this decision was brought about by numerous bad ones, as are; I've decided, all the best ones. Up until the age of 18 I had done everything by the book, I went to school I got pretty good grades, I got myself into a fancy college where I got OK grades and went to University for one year. It had occurred to me in my 2nd year of A Levels that I really had no idea where my true passions lay, I couldn't think of a single thing I was passionate about, passionate enough to spend £9,000 a year studying. I changed my mind some many times it made my head spin.. Computer Science, Vet, Doctor and then the more reasonable Journalist, Author, Teacher. Honestly I knew I was one ... read more

Home again. What a wonderful 7 weeks we have had. Home to snowdrops in the garden and bright sunshine all be it only 6 C. We have already been asked what were our favourite destinations ...and our chief aim was to see June and and the family in Tasmania but it was good to visit so many different places too. All had such variety to offer that is difficult to choose one favourite but there are definitely places we would like return to at some point and we must remember that we only saw a tiny part of each country and other regions would provide many different experiences., that's the joy of travel. So for now its back to our reality, our family and our lives.,, but we will always remember 2015 for starting in such ... read more

Well we reached the end of the line today. The terminus of the Severn Valley Railway at Kidderminster. Our plan to meet up with Jo, Ian and Sions best friend Woolly Mammoth. Having not seen Woolly since the summer Sion had had to make do and mend by emailing his friend on a regular basis as Woolly now lived in Turkey, However, he was coming home for Christmas and this gave Sion the opportunity to dress up in his new hat, his scarf and his jingle bells pinched off the Christmas tree and head for Kiddy station to meet his friend and catch up on world travels. The trip didnt take that long. Two hours and a drive for the second time this week down the M6 Toll road. AT a cost of £4.80 each way ... read more

Living in London for six months is great but we both wanted to make sure that while here we spent time visiting areas outside the city. Friends of ours (Happy Times) spent six months visiting Europe spending most of their time house-sitting. It sounded like the perfect win-win situation for us so we signed up to be Trusted House Sitters which usually involves taking care of a pet, but not always (contact us if you're interested in more details) and got a “job” for 4 days. It was a wonderful experience; we got a chance to meet some great people (thanks Natalie & Martin), got to see Malvern and Worcester and even had toast for breakfast. It's amazing the things you miss! There are quite a few things to see and do in the Malvern Link ... read more
