Well, as you can see from the date, it has taken me rather a long time to get round to completing our happy tale. Needless to say, we made it home in one piece, and it was an altogether memorable and fantastic trip. I don't think I would be brave enough to do it again with children of 1 and 2 years old, and fortunately we won't have to unless we have more children. Which incidentally is less likely now we have done this!! The flight home began with a seating cock-up in Wellington, whereby we were not allocated bassinet seats all the way through to Abu Dabi. The flights were very busy, and let's just say we had to dig deep, maintain our cool, and try not to watch the clock. The stay-over in UAE ... read more

Well, we're all ready. Alex and I are off to work as normal tomorrow morning, and the kids are going to pre-school and Margaret's, as normal. We're about to pack the car up so there won't be much to do tomorrow morning. I thought it best to leave as per usual on a Monday morning and busy myself with work, rather than sit at home stressing with the kids driving me round the bend. I've had umpteen amounts of advice on what to do and take on the flight. I've taken on board (if you pardon the pun!) every single one of them - new toys, old toys, soft toys, sticker books, pj's, snacks, treats, medised, calpol, earplugs, ipad, headphones, barbie, books, change of clothes, nappies...you name it, we have it. The only thing we have ... read more

I'm 35 years old. Exactly one week today I will be embarking on my biggest adventure yet. Actually WE will be embarking on OUR biggest adventure yet....because I am most very definaitely not alone on this one. Worcester to Wellington, and back again, with my amazing husband Alex, our 1 yer old Samuel, and our 2 (and a big half) year old Amelia. Hold that thought..... Yes. I will be the person I never wanted to sit next to on the plane. I will be the parent who needs to learn how to discipline my children in public. And I will be the one defying all medical advice and reaching for anything that will help us all to get some sleep. My worst nightmare is about to come true. EEEEEEIIIIIIIYYYYYYYIIIEIIEEEESSEEEERRRRRRRRRSSS!!!! But now, I must get to ... read more

Hi and welcome to my blog. I'll try and update this often with what we've been doing and where we have visited. A quick warning, this blog is likely to be full of bad grammar, equally poor jokes and the mass overuse of the exclamation mark!! With that out the way I'll introduce myself for those who don't know me and explain where we're going. I'm Dave and I'm going travelling with my girlfriend Hayley on the 15th January, we've been planning this trip (and saving) for near on 2 years so now it's nearly here I think it's fair to say that we're both very excited and maybe a little nervous. Our journey starts with a midday train to London Stansted, we're arriving ridiculously early as our flight isn't until 10 in the evening, but ... read more

We spent two days in the Worcester district. This is because there are a couple of good things to see here, and one of them takes a full day so see. We had stayed in a little town near Worcester overnight to catch up with a friend of ours, Terry Walls. We stayed the first night at Terry’s house, and it was good to catch up with him. We left Terry’s house next morning and sent to an English Landmark called Wawrick Castle. This is England’s premier castle experience and is an old castle that has been turned into a great day out. It was a hot day (REALLY hot for UK standards… it was about 28 degrees and it was still holidays for the little English children, so the place was very popular that day. ... read more
