On the 28th of March at around 3:30pm I left Sydney and was on my way to Hong Kong.
After a 9 hour flight I reached the Hong Kong International airport and followed signs and the crowd for directions to my next gate, gate 36. Then after a 2 hour stop we hopped back on and left for London. After a long and squishy 13 hours, I made it. Today at 6:30am this morning I arrived in the London, Heathrow Airport. I had to wait a few hours before I got picked up from the mother I am staying with but this gave me plenty of time to eat, rest, journal, read and freshen up. Anything was better than being stuck inside that plane for a moment longer :)
The first flight was good, I had spare seats next to me so I was able to stretch out and relax a little. But the next flight was much longer, it dragged on and on and on and I was squished in between two people this time. I did make friends with one of them. His name was Rob, he lives about 45 mins out of London. He was a kind man, probably mid 30s, with a very soft voice (not to mention cool accent). It was great to have someone to chat to, I enjoyed the company. I did manage to get some sleep but constantly felt agitated and restless and frustrated at the fact that I had to ask Rob to get out of his seat every time I needed to use the bathroom or stretch my legs, plus when he was asleep I couldn't bring myself to do it so I had to suffer in silence.
But it was a huge relief to get off the plane and finally out of the airport. Olenka, which is the lady I am staying with picked me up around 10am and we were off to the carpark and into London! Typically, it was raining. But it was just the weather I was in the mood for. We had a lovely trip into Surrey, have some wonderful chats and it gave us time to get to know each other. I am staying in their lovely house. The surroundings are gorgeous! Like nothing I've ever seen. I got here around 11am and was asleep by 11:30. They woke me up around 8:45pm so that I could be up for a few hours and I would be able to sleep through the night and wake up tomorrow morning. I got to meet the family, they are all very kinda and sweet. So here I am, just had some food and now emailing and starting my blog.
So far my thoughts are. England is awesome. I haven't seen much but the parts I have seen make me very excited to see the rest. I can't wait! It's a whole other world, one I have never experienced before. It's weird to think about the people here living their lives that I have never even knew about, and then to think about all that my friends in Sydney and Melbourne (love you Leah) are doing! It's crazy. The world is big and beautiful and im very excited for these next few months. I am feeling very blessed to be here, here as in the world, here as in England and here as in at this family's house. Thank you Lord for protecting me and making me arrive safe and sound without any major dramas (so far haha).
Also, I am loving the accents of everyone! SO COOL! Okay. It is settled. I love England. Anyway it is almost 1am local time, which is almost 11am Sydney time. So, I'm off to try and get some sleep so I can get up in a few hours and start adjusting to English times. Peace!
