One day less than yesterday, but one more than tomorrow to go and the clocks are against us, as each day seems to have an hour more than the previous one, they get longer and longer and it's very difficult to find something to do other than looking at maps and dreaming of roads that are waiting for us without them knowing.
As you all know, because I've been saying it for months now, we're going for a bike ride...we don't know when we'll be back...that's assuming we won't stay in Aitutaki, paradise on Earth...
This is the planned route so far, always keeping in mind that, just to let free will flow, we don't have any plans and, maybe, we'll feel like missing the plane from NZ to Australia and stay there seven months instead of one, to search for that bloody ring that so many hobbits, elves and trolls are looking for; and talking about planes, I want to apologize to the Mother Earth for using more metal birds that I would like to and to my Dad for having a daughter that makes any sailor feel ashamed, being as he is, in love with the sea, but I panic on the open ocean and only the idea of my little person inside a thousand tons boat is more than enough to make my guts churn and give my face a green Shrek-like shadow.
But now we'll spend the summer in Spain and Germany, to say farewells to families and friends, hoping that, some of you will be thinking on joining us at some point: maybe someone fancies to wear a grass skirt and a coconut bikini and dance the hula at our wedding or, if that's asking too much, cycle with us for a few kms, anywhere else, to make our ride more enjoyable:
you have a whole world to choose from: we'll go to beaches and mountains, cities and villages, cold places and warm places, jungles and deserts, places where to dive like a fish or climb like a goat, places where you're not suppose to go and places where everybody goes, rich countries and poor countries, spiritual places or places where to go shopping...
So, whatever you like to do it's quite probable that we'll go to a place where it will be possible to do it...
We, like so many did before, have decided to take the first step towards the unknown, the adventure; we're not the first and won't be the last, but we hope that, as it happened to us when we knew of other's adventures, you'll be inspired to start your own trip through a world that has so many different people, cultures, smells and flavors...
There's too much to do and see to stay at home watching telly. We all have moments when we think of get away from the rat race and do something different, but no too many take a deep breath and start pedaling...
Believe us when we say that you get an amazing feeling the moment you realize that your life belongs to you, not to your job or bills...TO YOU!! and you have the option to live it the way you wish; knowing that you can do what you want, eat when you're hungry or sleep when you're tired is priceless...
Forget about what people will say and concentrate on what you want, grab a map and choose a place...we'll be there waiting for you...
The dates we've planned so far are a bit further down, after the Spanish version. After Singapore we won't be taking any more planes (I hope!!) and we'll be pedaling until we reach Beijing, where we'll board Trans Siberian that will take us, via Mongolia, to Moscow and St. Petersburg, where we'll start pedaling again until we get home...
EL MUNDO DE DENI Y DAX
Queda un dia menos que ayer, pero uno mas que mañana para irnos; los relojes se han amotinado y nos intentan engañar ya que cada dia parece tener una hora mas que el anterior, se hacen cada vez mas y mas largos y es mas dificil encontrar algo que hacer que no sea mirar mapas y soñar con las carreteras que nos estan esperando sin ellas saberlo.
Como es de sobra sabido, ya que me he dedicado a anunciarlo a voces en los ultimos meses, nos vamos a dar una vuelta en bici...no sabemos cuando volveremos...eso es asumiendo que no nos quedemos a vivir en Aitutaki, paraiso natural donde los haya...
Esta es la ruta que tenemos planeada hasta el momento, siempre teniendo muy claro que, para dejar que el "destino" haga lo que quiera con nosotros, no tenemos nada planeado y lo mismo se nos da por perder el avion de Nueva Zelanda a Australia y quedarnos alli siete meses en lugar de uno a ver si encontramos el dichoso anillo que tantos hobbits, trolls y elfos andan buscando; y hablando de aviones, quiero pedir perdon a la madre tierra por coger mas pajaros de metal de los que me gustaria, y a mi padre por tener de hija al colmo de un marinero, estando el enamorado del mar, o sea, que me da panico el oceano y la simple idea de mi personita metida en un barco de mil toneladas en medio de las olas me llega y me basta para encogerme las entrañas y darle a mi carita un tono verde tipo Shrek.
De momento pasaremos el verano en España y Alemania, a despedirnos de familias y amigos ya que esperamos que algunos de vosotros esteis pensando en encontraros con nosotros en algun momento: a ver si alguien se apunta a ponerse una faldita de hojas y un par de cocos en los pechos y bailar el hula-hula en nuestra boda o, si eso es mucho pedir, a pedalear unos kilometros con nosotros, en cualquier otro sitio, para hacernos mas llevadero el camino:
teneis un mundo entero para escoger: pasaremos por playas y montañas, por ciudades y pueblos, por lugares frios y calurosos, selvas y desiertos, lugares donde bucear y sentirte como un pez y sitios donde escalar montañas y ser un poco cabra; sitios a donde se supone que no debes ir o a donde va todo el mundo; paises pobres y paises ricos; sitios de gran espiritualidad y sitios a donde ir de compras...
Asi que sean cuales sean tus preferencias, cualquier cosa que te guste hacer, es casi seguro que pasaremos por donde sera posible hacerla.
Nosotros, como muchos hicieron antes, hemos decidido dar el primer paso hacia lo desconocido, hacia la aventura; no somos los primeros y sabemos que no seremos los ultimos y esperamos que, como nos paso a nosotros al saber de las aventuras de otros, os sintais inspirados por lo que hacemos y empeceis vuestro propio viaje por este mundo que es increiblemente variado en gentes, culturas, olores y sabores.
Hay demasiado que hacer, ver y conocer para quedarse en casa viendo la tele. Todos tenemos momentos en la vida en los que pensamos en hacer algo diferente y salir de la rutina, pero somos pocos los que, cogiendo una gran bocanada de aire, nos decidimos y empezamos a dar pedales...
Creednos cuando decimos que es un subidon increible el que recibes; te das cuenta de que tu vida es tuya, no de tu trabajo ni de tus facturas, ¡¡TUYA!!, y tienes la opcion de vivirla como tu decidas. El saber que puedes hacer cada dia lo que tu quieras, comer cuando tengas hambre y dormir cuando tengas sueño, vale muchisimo mas que un coche ultimo modelo o un traje de diseño. ..
Olvidate del "que diran" y concentrate en lo que tu quieres, coge un mapa y decide a donde te gustaria ir...alli te estaremos esperando...

A partir de Singapore ya no cogeremos mas vuelos (esperemos) y estaremos dando pedales hasta que lleguemos a Beijin (Pekin), donde cogeremos en Trans Siberiano (tren), que nos llevara, via Mongolia, hasta Moscu y de alli a San Petersburgo, donde empezaremos a dar pedales otra vez hasta que lleguemos a casa donde, espero, un plato del caldiño galego de mi abuela Irene nos estara esperando...

Si por algún motivo teneis que navegar, sabes que estaré a tu lado para que la singladura no te asuste. En ese viaje no os va a quedar mas remedio q aguantarme en alguna etapilla. Sabeis muy bien la envidia que me dais. Un bico pra os dous.
