It's been a while, folks. Much has happened. I am sad to say that Laura has returned to her country, and I remain in England, applying to med school and watching the rain drip down the office windows. Laura last wrote in Prague, let's see what I can do.
1. Rode bikes around Prague. until we came to a large hill. lined with restaurants. Czech food = doughy and delicious. Was excited that Laura would also have to buy new sunglasses but she had merely put them in another restaurant for safe keeping.
2. Feel it's necessary to mention our train mate from (I think) venice to vienna. Elizabeth, bless her, an eldery sexaholic from Poland who was determined to get some action in the train coach with our poor new italian friend danilo or at the very least keep us from any comfortable sleep we could have salvaged.
3. Germany: our train went through it.
4. Stepped off the train in Amsterdam and wandered down a side road. Tipped our hats to three friendly prostitutes and amused ourselves with a canal full of ducks and our new funny-looking water fowl friends. All the rain that had
not fallen thus far during our trip decided to. Got a meatball sandwich, some soup, and apple pie, and set off to the park to... observe more ducks. Then watched an intense large chess game in the square between an up and coming player and "the best damn player in amsterdam" according to my Irish and cracked out of his mind bench mate Nicolas. Spent the night in delft with Laura's charming cousin Matt. Were not allowed to try dutch food because it is "still developing" so had indian instead.
5. Belgium: our train stopped in it. Giving us a chance to dash over to the chocolate covered waffle vendor.
6. Paris. It is indeed huge. saw it by night, saw it by day, and took fish to the train for a tearful goodbye.
and NOW the real adventure begins!! for those of you who were following this blog in the interest of laura, and no longer wish to hear about my random ventures around europe, please unsubscribe now and stop reading. for those of you who wish to continue the story...
Decided it was a nice day for a walk. and for saving 1.60 on
the metro. walked towards a garden across the seine, with the intention of going to the louvre afterwards. miscalculated and walked right into the louvre. continued to the garden anyway, bought a pastry, and arriving back at the louvre, realized i had simply outwalked my legs. Limped around the louvre (which is free for EU members, and in fact not that impressive) and experienced what it is like to be handicapped for a day. Held up crowds of people on stairs, in crowded hallways, and sat on benches for longer than was really fair. Decided the louvre was overrated and exited, wandered paris and navigated my way to the airport for a late night flight to england with a chatty old british turned columbian man whose wife had ditched him when he dressed up as a pregnant nun during his daughters' school festival and was fired from the school (goodness knows why).
My current position is the Goss residence. As soon as I finish applying to med school, I will leave. I am not sure where I shall go. But my eurail has not expired yet. and I still have a little bit of money.

Hi Avalon. Thanks for the update. I've saved all the blog updates to my computer as well as all the pictures. I'm happy to have Laura home, but sad you are traveling alone now. Keep posting to the blog as I'm very interested in hearing about all the places you travel to.
Love, Laura's Mommy
AV! of course I want to stay with your blog! How could I not? Your style and personality shine forth to captivate. K, maybe a bit grandiose in terminology, but you get the gist, no? I'm going invite you on Facebook to be friends, too, if you choose. Be careful, & you are in my prayers for safety and success!:-)

I like the sand-pit labelled "our bed", and I really like the Dutch Ducks. I hope your "workaway-ing" introduces you to hoards of wonderful and weird people. And llamas. And lavender.
Hey Av, I hope you are well. I could go on and accept this comment myself but then you wouldn't have the excitement of doing it. I hope you have eaten tons of Belgian waffles by now and seen plenty of llamas.
Eees OK,
Laura
