So this past weekend was pretty low key. On Friday a few of us went for a hike out into the country to ta place called Boar's Hill. We got to see a pretty great view of Oxford from there. A few of us checked out a pretty cool ethnic bar on Saturday, i think it was spanish. It had a definite Mediterranean feel, instead of chairs they had cushions that you sat on. It was pretty cool. Sunday was pretty much just a lot of rain and time spent in the library.
Last night we had a formal dinner and got to hear some really awesome musicians perform 15th century English music. So I think I've yet to mention this, but our dinning hall looks pretty much like the dining hall in Harry Potter, just a bit smaller. The walls are decorated with portraits of ll the famous people who have dined there, including Queen Elizabeth. We also have the same set up as in Harry Potter, with an elevated "High Table" which is at the front of the room and is perpendicular to the rest of the tables. The reason I mention this is because everyone in the program gets a chance to dine at the High Table for at least one formal dinner and last night was my night. I felt pretty awesome being up there among all these important people. After dinner a few of us went to a club which was a lot of fun.
THis morning, I had m first one on one tutorial with Dr. Addison. It went really well, I was actually a little upset when it was over. He's an incredibly smart man. My first paper is due tomorrow morning and because I'm typing this now and we have plans this evening, I'll probably have to finish it tonight. This evening's plans consist of going to see Shakespeare's MacBeth at Stratford-Upon-Avon, which even for a guy who doesn't know much about Shakespeare, its pretty exciting.
I've also decided to take a trip to the Peak District this Saturday to do some hiking.
