We are still living in a strange time. TFB and his roadmap are still driving on, but there are so many contradictions that confusion over the rules is now an everyday occurrence. A pub with outside space is now open for business in England, but in Scotland it can be open for food indoors as well - just as long as you stick to no alcohol with your meal. Weddings are allowed in Scotland for up to 50 people and allow alcohol to be consumed indoors. The guy down the road who was merely hankering after a swift half of lager to accompany his indoor Scotch egg leaves disappointed. Meanwhile, FA and the Department For Culture, Media & Sport have just left us with blank expressions all round where football is concerned. The logic of slowly ... read more

"Everything has beauty but not everyone sees it" Confucius utters common sense again . Hold that thought. This will be going somewhere in the direction of ugly things and industrial history. Not to everyones taste hence the beauty that some people miss. Gabby was taken up again to Preston for the satellite dome to be fitted . The silly sat nag takes us a different way everytime. Sometimes south and then up the M6 to Preston, sometimes across country east to west through Disley and the Airport ring road. Occaisionally she has taken us to Sheffield , over the tops to Manchester and today right up to Leeds and across the M62. A bleak and windswept motorway if ever there was one. Perhaps it feels worse to know that we are driving over Saddleworth Moor with ... read more

It is now three weeks since we returned from holiday and Suzy Sundance is finally sitting in the sun with a new windscreen fitted. Her chipped glass replaced by a brand spanking new clean bright one. £75 lighter but at least she looks better now. She still needs cleaning. She still is full of grey water which we have had little chance to throw out and a chemical loo that has probably filled with enough methane gas to power a whole city. We should have cleaned her out but instead chose to spend a few hours at Newstead Abbey just a few miles down the road from us. There is always tomorrow or the day after for jobs like that. Now owned by Nottinghamshire Council but originally the home of Lord Byron it is a gothic ... read more

Our plan for today was to spend time in the lovely town of Warwick visiting the castle and possibly Stratford on Avon. We tried to ring up earlier in the morning to book but got no answer. It would perhaps have made sense if they had put an answerphone message on but they hadn't. Our plans of course had to change rather quickly as we drove into the Caravan Club car park on the racecourse and found not a soul parked there. Apparently it would not be opening until next week. So instead we had to make a hasty change to our plans. We decided to to ring the company we bought the motorhome from to see if they had any spaces on their overnight parking spots. The plan now was to stay overnight and get ... read more

12 days to go before we start our five week interrail trip around Europe, and I'm getting rather excited, and a little bit anxious. It seems so close and it still feels like there's so much to do. I haven't even bought half the things I need and next week is graduation so I think I'm going to have the joy of the last minute rush shop. I'm going with my friend, and ex flatmate Laura , and we've been planning it for the past year!! I know with interrail most people like to be really flexible and go with the flow. But there's places we want to go, so we've done a little route. We fly to Paris on the 27th and from there we go to Interlaken-Gimmelwald-Venice-Salzburg-Vienna-Budapest-Krakow-Berlin and finally to Amsterdam, where we fly ... read more
