Hello again everyone! This year on vacation I visited my fabulous Aunt & Uncle in England. I spent an entire week traveling around Northern England visiting abbeys, castles, and beautiful gardens.
On the first day we took a drive through the Yorkshire Dales. It was rainy early, but cleared up later in the day. The English countryside is breathtaking. It's like something out of a movie. The hills are lined with dry-fitted stone walls and dotted with sheep.
In England people are allowed to hike through property. No such things as trespassing. There are alot of hiking and walking paths around and people can go for a walk through the fields. Alot of the fences have steps build in so that people can get over them easy. You just have to be careful about not stepping in the sheep poo.
In addition to visiting the Yorkshire Dales, we visited a couple villages in the area. The oldest sweet shop in England is located in one of them (Pateley Bridge). Wonderful strawberry bon bons- I brought a couple packages home.
There are lots of photos in this section. The first three are my favorites. Enjoy!
Dales4A sign warning people to keep their dogs under control when hiking there. If the dogs scare the sheep & cause them to miscarry, the dog owner would be responsible for the lost income from the lambs.
Dales25I like the contrast between the stone wall and very green grass.
Dales24The sun came out. So pretty...
Dales26I just love the stone fences.
