I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I have to admit, I was a bit sad that I was going to miss this all-American holiday/ eat-fest, but in the end, my housemates really came through. We had close to thirty people at our dinner last night, with much more food that we could handle. There was turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy (even vegetarian gravy that I could actually eat), cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole-- you name it, we had it. We even had some international additions, including a fabulous spicy curry dish courtesy of my housemate Krupa. It was especially comforting to have everyone come together for such a family-style meal. We moved the tables into one long line. Alice's pumpkin pie (which we made from the inside of the halloween jack-o-lanterns we had frozen) turned out really well, although she admitted she didn't really care for it. :) Of course, I did miss seeing my family, but by the time dinner was finished, I didn't have the energy to be homesick... I was just plain sick! Still, after we let the food settle for a bit, there were only a few of us left
in the kitchen-- everyone but Anthony was American--and we had a little sing along, which later turned into a dance party. At some point, before we broke out dance cd's, there was a pretty rowdy (and of course somewhat ironic) group performance of "Proud to Be an American." To top off the evening, Alison, Anthony, Shannon and I stayed up late in the kitchen dancing on the tables. I will attach a picture or two of that just for fun. I hope that all of you are recovering from the gluttony of the holiday, as well as enjoying your leftovers and the "Day after Thanksgiving" sales!!! Take care...
Love,
Ryan
PS: Happy birthday Dad and Camille!!!
Mike all alone.Mike arrived late to dinner after his latin class... he isn't quite as alone as he looked; everyone is lined up behind my camera washing up their dishes before dessert.
Proud to be an American. Here is everyone who celebrates the holiday on an annual basis; not all of them live in the house-- they came for the good eatin'.
