A relatively early start saw a haircut, a trip to an unhelpful bank, a misplaced mobile telephone unit (epic domesticity Imran?) and a subsequent solo visit to Scarborough castle.
Piss poor planning saw my camera lose its charge half way round my exploration, but in hindsight was just as well as the digital audio tour hanging round my neck, was suspended on too long a thread for me to hear as it competed against the headland wind. Not enough hands. Where is Imran?
Catching up we headed to Dalby Forest for the afternoon, with ready made picnic, and batteries for camera!
Bickley gate and Hackness on the agenda, a constitutional walk was made. And the discovery that there are poisonous fungi that need not be digested fully to pose a problem! On reflection perhaps the colour of said fungi should have been a clue.
Imran
After several wasteful moments (at least 45 in total) conversing with all manner of customer service types to find a missing amount of money, it was a distinct pleasure to get out of the town for a few hours at least. Of course, in the course of having a hair cut
and cancelling a bank card, the errant loss of a mobile phone seemed to scupper any chance of a mini-adventure into the depths of Dalby. As it was, facebook and a phone almost saved the day.
Almost. I found the phone.
A picnic, as delicious as it was delayed while purchasing through the dubious self-serving machine in Tesco Express, was eaten in the car. Well, I ate most of the strawberries while Sheba drove the back-way through to Dalby. Methinks driving duties may be onto me in the near future. And rightly so!
The poisonous mushrooms had a pleasant side-effect - that of a short-term voracious desire for Tapas. This was sated, although a cinema visit to watch Darwin's film was not. In all, two thoroughly excellent events. Alas, all such good things must end, and Imran returned to plan out semi-nonsensical routes through the morass of the media and literature landscape. The beginning of this blog, though, was a fulfilling and welcome distraction, and something that will hopefully make us smile.
