4 days now until myself, Stephanie and Jonathan embark on our two month adventure! Starting to get nervous now and I feel totally unprepared but I'm not quite sure whether you can be completely prepared for such a trip. I graduated 2 days ago from the University of East Anglia and am enjoying this time now to party with friends who are all dispersing on their own adventures. I have grown to love university but now is the time to leave, grow up, see the world and challenge myself. I will blog again soon once the journey has commenced. New York - here we come! xxx... read more

Just back from a great weekend in the 'big sky' country of England; Norfolk. Scott, Adam, Myles and I headed off out of London early Saturday morning arriving at Kings Lynn around 9.30. We were soon heading towards the start of our walk, which was a section of the famous Peddlers Way / Norfolk Coast Path. Our kick off point was a standard British seaside town called Hunstanton. We jetted out of there pretty quickly. The first part of the walk was along and behind the sand dunes and past a bird sanctury. To our amusement there were a number of bird watchers around. Their equipment must cost a fortune. We then did a 'U' in land, which offered fanastic views back to the coast. We walked past huge fields of wheat which were a lovely ... read more

Well, after a long period camper van stories continues. We left Brownhills and I took over the driving nearly killing us at the big scary roundabout where my husband got quite scared, not a good start, and we finally chugged off on the open road again. Not for long. The van started to slow down, a bad sign, so Robert decided to pull into a farm opening and look at the engine. This involved taking out all my useless packing, quite a lengthy task involving quite a bit of grumping. Then he hummed and haahed and fiddled about with the engine a bit, very boring, but I had my sectret weapon - a page turner- a rivetingly rubbishy book. Finally we put everything back and he drove. We chugged off again towards York. We found a ... read more

A romantic, moated manor house, situated south of Downham Market of Norfolk, has been the home for the Bedingfeld family since the 15th century. There are a series of certificates presented by the Edward 4th, which he had acknowledged to build the fort in Oxburgh, displayed in the King’s Bedroom. When Sir Edmund Bedingfeld acquired the castle in 1482, it was in the middle of the War of the Roses. The Bedingfeld family were Catholic worshippers, and therefore their thoughts and life were frequently threatened and suppressed by the Tudor politics. Until the beginning of the 18th century, they repeatedly moved out of Oxburgh or lived abroad. The Bedingfeld family were finally settled in Oxburgh at the beginning of the 19th century. At that time, the 6th Baronet of Bedingfeld inherited it. Tudor style interior and ... read more

5 weeks + 5 days. Quite a short amount of time considering we still have Christmas to contend with. Snow is on the ground here and it's -3°C outside compared to the 34°C in Bangkok! So our loose plan? We are going to start in Thailand then move through Laos on the slow boat and then into Vietnam taking the bus from the north all the way down the country to the south and then escaping into Cambodia before hitting Thailand again for rest and recuperation. After which we then will go south and see the sights of Malaysia and Indonesia. Loose as it gets? Well maybe. Each and every one of us should all be aware that this itinerary is subject to change without prior notice. Why are we doing this? We want to ... read more

Friday 8th October Following a hiatus of some ten days my travels have resumed. Past few days have been wet and cloudy-really not much use for travel writing. On the plus side it allowed me to spend time with Heather and Rob which is always enjoyable. The local TV forecast for today - sunny- proved rather inaccurate - unlike the Met Office website which predicted the low cloud and lack of sun. Now where do you think the local forecast came from? Well done! The Met Office! Abandoned the planned cycle ride in favour of following said route in the van - fortunately the minor roads were not too narrow and I had an enjoyable day exploring the area between the Kings Lynn-Fakenham road and the coast. Roydon Common would obviously be a delight on a ... read more
