Afternoon... I have been wanting to start a b log about my travels for some time now, but just haven't been able to get around to it...so finally...here goes. My name is Wes. Originally from Canada, I now live in Norwich in the UK. I've been travelling for a few years, although to be honest I haven't been to nearly as many places as I would like! (I suspect that goes the same for the majority of travellers here!) As I mentioned, I'm originally from Canada, Windsor Ontario to be exact. List of places I've been: Canada (Lived) USA UK (Lived) India Italy Spain Bermuda (Lived) I hope to add in more content over the next while about places I've been and lived. If anyone had questions, please get in touch. ... read more

They changed the logo! Not sure how I feel about it. Granted, the old one was pretty simplistic, but from a distance this one looks like someone accidentally hit the slash key instead of the “A”. Oh well This is the square, where UEA students would gather in droves if the sun so much as hinted at peeking through the clouds a tiny bit. The railing and benches at the very top are new, but other than that not much has changed. This is the only photo I have of the main part of campus. For all its wonderful qualities, UEA was designed and built in the 1960’s, when architecture was not at its peak. (Judging by the Hamilton College East/”Dark” Side, which was built around the same time, architecture wasn’t even at its middle ... read more

Since I was on a 3 weeks of unexpected holidays due to the H1N1 quarantine, I decided to visit my brother who was staying at Norwich, England. Here's my account of this unique lovely place called Norwich. Norwich - An English medieval city that has everything in it! That's how I found Norwich to be. This picturesque county boasts of magnificent cathedrals that will definitely leave you spellbound, ancient Norman castle, narrow winding cobbled streets and such cute little shops that you'll never get tired of this place! Every street and corner has something to offer. An evening stroll along the River Wesnum will leave you speechless with it's breathtakingly beautiful scenery lined with half timbered houses and the main attraction : the Cow Tower (a former British Artillery). The city comes to life from morning ... read more

We needed a couple of days recovery after our motorcycle adventure, and Baños is the place to relax! We had a lovely weekend wandering around town, eating the rediculously sugary cane sweets (the type that threaten to stick your teeth together forever!), and generally trying to get the feeling back in our bums after the motorbiking. After that, we headed to the capital, Quito, for a couple of days. It seems to be just another big city, although the old town has been nicely renovated with lots of colonial splendour. The heavens kept opening up so we found a spa in town and spent an afternoon swimming, steaming, sauning and bubbling, which was a lovely treat. We also got chatting with a man from Quito, who despite speaking no English, chatted with us for over an ... read more

1 week to go Just set up this travel blog so thought I would try it out... We've got 1 week to go before we leave for our RTW trip...never done anything like this so have no idea what to expect! Both Rick & I had our last days of work with Aviva yesterday which was strange...still hasn't really sunk in that I'm unemployed, quite exciting though! We're currently both exhausted after spending nights out saying goodbye to our friends. Still got some more sad goodbyes to go :-( Not really looking forward to them. Was nice to receive some thoughtful gifts...I was given a lovely journal which I needed! Still not got everything we need to take but there's only little bits and bobs left (I think). I'm looking forward to having some spare time ... read more

We are on our way to the seacoast when out of nowhere there appeared yet another cathedral and we just had to stop. It was the Norwich Cathedral which has the highest spire of all gothic cathedrals in Britain. Originally built starting in 1029 and partially rebuilt in 1529. Even the rebuild is 300 years older than Canada. Left the cathedal and headed east. I will say that the English people have preserved their homes and properties at all costs. No home is moved or torn down for the betterment of highways or roads. In some cases they are crazy!!! Oh my God, you will be cruising at the breakneck pace of 40 MPH (for those of us that remember how fast that really is) and in a split second you come around a corner to ... read more
