I have a year to travel starting this summer of 2008. I will start in the United Kingdom, then cross to Ireland. Then I plan to go to Poland and Ukraine. Depending upon the political climate, I may venture into Turkey. In preparation, I have spent many hours reading other peoples' blogs. I wonder how my adventure will unfold?

Hey girls, do you fancy a walk?
Starting off
Despite the winds, we set off.
Estate
We walked through local farm to get to drainage ditch.
Tractors
The community is a thriving farming community. Hay, potatoes, grain crops, corn are grown.
Drainage Ditch
The area is flat; reclaimed land near 'the Wash'. The sea is about 3 miles from here.
Deep Ditch
Water flows out to sea in a series of ditches. When we walk beside them ducks and herons fly up and away. In the fields beside us, partidges and huge wood pigeons fly up from the grass.
Poppies
Poppies in the grass are beautiful.
Pup and Puppies
Even Katie likes poppies.
Heading Home
Bella and Katie heading back.
Basket
After the walk, a power snooze.

Ray's friends raises parrots.

Today was Market Day in Long Sutton.

Local and global veggies sold here.

You can buy almost everything here.

Small villages tend to keep those quaint British things.

All kinds of foods served here.

I love the old churches.

Ladies were cleaning the church today.

There is a longer growing season here. Most houses still have lots of blooms in their yards.

In the local garden centre, the flowers crowd the yard.
