Hola! As you can tell from Jo's current location, I havent yet set left to meet Saul down under but I wanted to set this up a week before I left! So its officially a week until I get on the flight and meet Saul in Oz!! I have been getting very excited, nervous and scared these last few weeks. A lot of changes have occured for me. I have moved out of my house in Didsbury, sold mine and Saul's baby!! :) (our car), quit my job at the nursey and moved back into my mum's house in Blackpool! Wow this better be worth it! :) As most of you know, Saul has very kindly set up a Fruit picking job for 3 months for us starting the 8th February 2012. After doing my Belly ... read more

For more of my photos, or to buy my book, please visit www.nickkembel.com My name is Nick. I have been a member of the punk rock movement since Rancid released ‘And Out Come the Wolves’ 15 years ago, though I refuse to adopt the label of punk rocker because I have the soul of a hippy and the lifestyle of a spiritual nomad. I have spent the better part of the last 10 years wandering through some of the most feared and misunderstood corners of the earth, to seek beauty and to experience first-hand the equality, solidarity and unity of all people. For a few years now I have been living in Taiwan, one of the most homogeneous and conformist cultures on earth. I have my reasons and I love my life here, but an ... read more

We set the alarm and got up early, today was the day we were off to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. When we arrived we collected our tickets and ran through the gates like excited children. We headed straight for The Big One and to our surprise the queue was only about 20 minutes long. We even got the seats right at the front. For those of you who don’t know, the Big One when first opened was the highest, fastest and steepest rollercoaster in the world. It doesn’t hold any of these records anymore but its still a fantastic rollercoaster. Next and after some convincing I managed to get Andy to go on the Ice Blast. This shoots you 230 feet in the air at 80 miles an hour then drops you back down again. It was ... read more

Visited Blackpool today. It's a holiday seaside town which doubles as one big amusement park. There is an amusement park with Roller coasters and other rides, but you can have as much fun on the 3 piers filled with side show games and rides, many spruked by operators in that true Lancaster Scouse accent which just adds to the colour. England has become a melting pot of lots of different cultures, and Blackpool shows off this diversity. Here people from all walks of life and different ethic backgrounds enjoy the holiday atmosphere. As we walked along the promenade, the vibrant sounds of Africa music rang out as a group enjoyed the rhythm drawing people closer to watch and listen. Over all it was a great day. ... read more

Our hosts Bruce and Anice think we are mad giving up the prospect of a beautifully fine day in the Lakes District to go and walk the piers and promenade of Blackpool. But its a bit like a pilgramige for Gretchen who for years used to tell our girls off when they had all the lights in the house turned on saying "its like the Blackpool illumination".She had of course never seen the illuminations except for on TV but she needs now to experience at first hand even if the lights won't actually be on because it will be daylight but to see at least what makes up those lights. So with another fine and warm day ahead we started out down the M6 towards Preston after deciding that we would take the direct route there ... read more

... read more
