Hello Readers,
We are now about 3 months away from departing on our big adventure. At least, that is the plan! As it’s the sale of our house that is funding the trip, I guess we shouldn’t be too presumptuous until after the property auction has taken place next Monday (5th June). Whilst we remain optimistic that it will sell, we are unable to make any firm plans until we know the sale price. It is that figure which will determine what we should set aside for our next property and for our trip. We chose the auction route because it is quick (28 days from sale to completion) and you cannot be gazumped. As it turns out, it is also the only property in our area in the sale, which should, in itself, attract potential buyers or developers. Let’s hope it turns out to be the right decision.
As we will only have a month to vacate our property once the house is sold, the only way we could free that time up was by resigning from our jobs. My notice period ended last Friday and, as you can see from the photograph, my work colleagues at Crier
Media Group were in floods of tears at my departure. Having worked there for 13 years, it seemed rather strange leaving the building for the last time. Jo only had to give one months notice to her company, however on the day she was to hand it in she was called in to the office minutes after arriving to be told she was being made redundant. They said she didn’t have to come in to the office for her final month but that they would pay her anyway. A lucky coincidence if ever there was one.
Tomorrow we will be attending another property auction just to get a feel for what we can expect at our own sale.
Will post another report after next Monday.
