We started the day early by getting up and hauling ourselves out onto the bus. Naturally, I was the first one awake, and I ran down to the pharmacy before everyone else had gotten out of bed, and bought some sunscreen and lotion due to my burns from the other day. It was nice to get something on my skin, since I was indeed quite red in the face (haha, from being burnt of course!).
The next two hours of my life were spent with a dying iPod tuning out Pauls iPod that was playing in the seat in front of me. I'm wondering how he isn't deaf at the moment, but at least it lasted all the way to the Cliffs.
The Cliffs of Dover were a wonderful sight to be treated to in the early morning. However, we only drove past them on our way up the mountain to the magnificantly fortified Dover Castle. We then took a walking tour by ourselves, splitting up into smaller groups, and I ended up following the boys around to go into the tunnels below the castle walls. Prez located a hidden tunnel once down there, and several of us climbed in it and had to light our paths via camera flashes in order to see how deep the rabbit hole went, so to speak.
I also got to see Alex "attempt" to jump the ledge at the castle wall for a good 150+ feet drop. Hillar also decided that we should leave early, so that the driver could take us up to the British equivalent of a state park, where we got to actually walk on the Cliffs of Dover. My God it was splended to be able to see the fog roll in from the sea.
After that, we left to drive up to Canterbury, where my iPod appropriately died with 15 minutes left to arrive. Thanks, Paul, for your loud music. Anyway, I degress back to Canterbury, and once the driver had parked the bus we met with our little old lady tour guide who gave us a guided walking tour around the city.
Now, I don't think I mentioned this yesterday, but when we were at Windsor and in the cathedral, we had this group of snooty little girls who were being really rather rude behind us. Considering everyone around the cathedral had been giving them the stink eye, and considering I was fed up with them, I finally turned around and gave them a very furious, but hushed "Can you be any more rude?! Why don't you shut your mouths and be a little bit more respectful in here!"
This of course, led to them giving me a look as if they had never been told off before, and that I must be barking mad for even insinuating they were being rude! After I had turned around to join our group, I heard one of them start talking about me, so I turned back around and gave them a more sternfaced, "Oy, I can bloody hear you! Shut. Up."
Now, would you believe that we ran into those very same girls at Canterbury?! Seriously! As we were walking down the street towards the Cathedral, they came running out of the shops yelling amongst themselves saying "That's the girl who yelled at us yesterday!" I just smiled triumphantly, and walked on, forgetting them for the rest of the day and enjoying my tour.
The interior of the Cathedral was magnificant, and there was even an elderly scholar who took us around to give us the history of the Cathedral. I think I was quoting Chaucer the entire time we were there (silently, of course, so as not to annoy the others). Once we left Canterbury, we came home and I chilled out for the rest of the night. I even discovered that McDonald's sells 20 piece chicken McNuggets after 11pm, so I got some of those!
