Summer is festival time in the UK. Woo hoo.
This year I decided on a new festival, the Isle of Wight Festival.
In an attempt to avoid the 'tent issues' previously encountered, we went with a 'posh version' of the camping. This was not the full on posh version, but one where they set up your tent for you, including pumping up an air bed. There are three main benefits to this:
One: You don't have to carry a tent/airbed - it's already there!!
Two: You are in a separate area, with more space around the tents, and no one's tent is right on top of yours.
Three: You get separate loos in your area, so significantly cleaner.
There was also a suggestion that there would be shorter shower queues, but that did not pan out....
Definitely worth it!!! (Although it is fair to say that the experience was enhanced by the great weather we had all weekend.)
For the first time at a festival we decided to dress up. Now the Isle of Wight Festival is not like Bestival (confusingly also on the Isle of Wight) which is famous for its dress up and
has a massive costume competition. It's actually quite cool to be dressed up when not many others are - especially in a big group. Doesn't get you any free drinks though.
Anyway, we had a fab time, and by leaving a bit early, managed to avoid the ferry crowds home (old and boring I know, but who wants to wait 3 hours in a car queue to get on the ferry?)
Bands seen (among others):
- Prodigy
- Basement Jaxx
- Ting Tings
- Razorlight
- Pendulum
- Goldie Lookin Chain (hilarious)
- Ultravox
- Australian Pink Flloyd
- Paulo Nutini
- Calvin Harris
- Mecury Revolution
- Ladyhawke
