Yarmouth Castle
A visit to Yarmouth Castle during your
Isle of Wight holidays will be an enjoyable experience for the whole family. You can pack a nice picnic basket and leave your luxurious holiday cottage right after breakfast. You will need to do this if you want to fully enjoy exploring the castle. You can take your camera along with you to capture some beautiful pictures of your picnic at Yarmouth Castle. The Yarmouth Castle dates back to the 16th century and it has remarkable architectural details that are inspiring. When you visit the castle you will also be able to have a look at the exhibitions of large number of wrecks that took place in the stretch of sea that surrounds the castle. The majestic castle was said to be completed after the death of Henry VIII in 1567. Since you are in the same area, check out the iconic Osborne House and the royal gardens that surround it. Getting to this castle is not difficult if you are staying at one of the spacious, self-catering holiday cottages.
Shanklin
Shanklin is one of the popular family beaches you can visit while staying at the holiday cottages. Though this beach is not a very large beach, still it offers visitors an excellent opportunity to enjoy a great family beach picnic. Shanklin beach is very popular for its water sports and hence is crowded most of the time. There are several restaurants, pubs, cafes and hotels located nearby. The spectacular views along the stretch of Shanklin beach is not to be missed during your Isle of Wight holidays. Shanklin beach is also a Blue Flag beach and is recommended for swimming and various water sports. Parking is also available at the beach, so you do not need to worry about finding a place to park your car when you come here. You and your family can enjoy a nice beach picnic at Shanklin. Just in case you did not pack sufficient “goodies” in your picnic basket, you can head over to one of the cafes and pick up some snacks to enjoy on the beach. You can return to the comfort of the holiday cottages after a nice day at this beach.
