Hertfordshire Ok this one isn't really a trip, as this is the area I currently live in, at first I thought I'd write a blog about London as I'm from there and often go there (only about 20min.s away from where I live), but after doing a quick search I noticed that almost no one had writen anything about my area, which is a shame as there's plently of hidden gems dotted around.
I'll list of some of the towns in this area I like to visit and what's a good thing to see or do there 😊
Hatfield - it's main attraction would be Hatfield House. A massive, impressive mansion that Henry VIII's children lived in their youths. A beautiful place, with an armoury and chapel surrounded by huge fancy gardens, farms, woodland walks etc. a gorgeous place and right next to the hatfield train station.
Tring - a little town that has a wonderful natural history museum, jam packed with taxidermy animals of every kind, a fasinating place that I love (and its free to enter)
St.Albans - theres plently to do here, beautiful parks, lots
of cafes/shops, a large outdoor market etc. The St.Albans Cathedral is very pretty and detailed. There's also a medieval clock tower you can go inside (only £1)
Welwyn Garden City - I personally really like Stanbourgh park here, its huge with lakes and a nature trail, great for a picnic or bike ride. There are Roman Baths here, which are ruins originally built in the 3rd century AD.
Watford - a great place for shopping or a night out. Theres Watford Palace Theatre, a 1908 Edwardian building. Also Bhaktivedanta Manor, a Gaudiya Vaishnava temple that people can visit
Broxbourne - the Paradise Wildlife Park here has over 400 animals
Knebworth - here you'll find a gorgeous gothic mansion that always has great events going on. Also huge pretty gardens with a hedge maze
Hitchin - Hitchin has a Lavender farm, which basically means miles and miles of purple fields you can walk through. Amazing for photography
These are only some of the places in Hertfordshire that I like. Of course there's plenty more to see and do! There's bowling,
indoor skiing, big shopping centres, mini golf, night clubs, paintballing, golf ranges etc etc
Well I do hope more people will visit Hertfordshire while in the UK, it's only a short distance from London afterall.
😊
