11th Oct '07 Flight from Heathrow to Nairobi (Kenya) for 2 nights before picking up a 10 day safari that will take us across the border into Tanzania and finishing on the island of Zanzibar
24th Oct '07 Flight from Dar Es Salaam(Tanzania) to Cape Town (South Africa) via Jo'burg
11th Nov '07 Flight from Cape Town to Sydney (Australia). Several weeks travelling across Oz. Christmas with 'The Cutler' in Melbourne. New Year and Neil's birthday in Sydney
15th Jan '08 Flight from Sydney to Auckland (New Zealand)
11th Feb '08 Flight from Auckland to Bangkok (Thailand). Overland travel through Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam
14th Apr '08 Train from Hanoi (Vietnam) to Beijing (China). Sam's birthday somewhere in China.....
13th May '08 Flight from Hong Kong to Hawaii (via Sydney)
26th May '08 Flight from Hawaii to Oklahoma via LAX (USA).....for Stormchasing! Followed by several weeks travel across the States and Canada
28th Jul '08 Flight from Toronto (Canada) to New York
11th Aug '08 Flight from New York to Miami. Couple of weeks travel around Florida
25th Aug '08 Flight from Miami to Lima (Peru)
12th Sep '08 Flight from Lima to Madrid (Spain)

SLEEPING BAG & GROUND MAT- Sleeping bag is self explanatory. Ground mat for when the earth is our bed
RUCKSACK- (*65/60 ltrs)………containing:
DAYPACK- Much smaller backpack for day trips (*31/20 ltrs)
CLOTHING-
*6 x pairs Y-fronts/7 x knickers
*3 x bras
4 x pairs socks
3 x pairs trousers- 2 of which convert to shorts with zips
1 x pair shorts
*2 x vests and shorts to sleep in….preferable in mixed dorms to avoid the gaze of pervy men
*1 x pair swimming shorts - the speedo days are over…./swimsuit and bikini
*5 x t-shirts/plus 2 x vest tops
2 x long-sleeved tops
*1 x Fleece/1 x thick and 1 x thin fleece
Waterproof jacket
Sarong- don’t laugh - it has many uses
Flightsocks
Belt (I don’t need one of them, I have hips)
Hat
FOOTWEAR-
Trainers - all terrain
Hiking sandals- not normally my thing, but needs must
*Flip-flops- the soles of 1 pair contain bottle openers….Gucci or what/mine don’t..I want some!
OTHER GEAR-
Waterproof liner- keeps contents of rucksack dry in a downpour
Hydration bag and cleaner- rubber liner that fits into rucksack or daypack that holds 2 ltrs of fluid
Sleeping bag liner- made of silk so very small, can be added to sleeping bag when cold or slept in on top of sleeping bag when warm
Flight bag- protection for rucksack whilst in transit
Mosquito net- bastard things - we will get malaria regardless
Trek towel- special towel that’s thin and dries very quickly - ultra absorbent, and although large folds down smaller than a pillowcase……..amazin’!
Flannel
Pillowcase- for low budget hostels - who knows who slept there before you..?!
Travel (rubber) plug- fits all sinks and baths with no plugs
Padlock with cable- for non-lockable rooms or lockers (ironically named) or securing rucksacks whilst sleeping on trains, buses, elephants etc

Sunglasses
Roll of duct tape- for running repairs to rucksack, footwear etc…
Ball of string- many uses
Small torch- does exactly what it says on the tin…
Bungee washing-line and small bag of washing powder
Waist wallet - NOT a bum bag!!!!! - smaller and concealed around the……waist!
Travel journal- book to record trip in writing and doodles
Notebook, pens, pencil
Digital camera, batteries, chargers, memory cards- so you lot can see what we’ve been up to
Memory sticks
iPOD, charger and travel speakers- luxury item but we must have music
Mosquito plug-in repellents and refills- the continuing battle against malaria…

Silk hankey/False thumb trick. (OK Joe, so it's a bit basic for your repertoire but even you couldn't keep a $20 bill floating in front of a little african boy for 10 seconds without it ending in a chase across the plains.)

Just a hint and something I always carry when I travel......Lavender spray to mask nasty niffs and help you sleep if you need a hand....and a lavender Cologne stick which is also very nice and relaxing, and cool in your temples..in times of stress should you have any!! You can get it in Savory and Moore in Mengham! Hahahaha. Have a fab time and look forward to hearing about your adventures xx
