So now im back to full speed and backed up my blogs......................not taking any chances this time......lol. So back to the reason for the title, since i paid the balance of my trip on the 18.07.07, i had been thing about my itinerary and i thought this is a trip/tour of a life time and if i keep the traveling bug it will have to be contained in shorter trips in between work.............as i will need to venture back into the realm of work at some stage....................pity id like to travel forever, but hey no one is going to pay me ... read more

Well the most recent developments are that on Wenesday 18.07.07 i popped into Trailfinders to pay the balance on my ticket, a moment i had been building upto for months......as can be seen by my months of blogging of stuff happeing and my other randomness. Well it couldnt quite go smoothly.....as nothing in life ever does, so i was going to hand my notice in a month before my leave date for work, which is the 23.11.07.......as i wanted a month or so off work before i travel to get everything double and triple checked and to spen time with my family before i disappear for 18 months- 2 years. Anyway long story short, someone had blabbed and my boss took me to one side and said she had heard a rumour i was planning to ... read more

So 188 days and counting till "i leave on a jet plane and i don't know when i will be back again" as it goes in the song....................lol Sometimes its hard to save money, i know i have to survive on my trip..........but this month has been a long one and i don't get paid till Tuesday and this month it was my birthday and i could not just sit back and not celebrate it:) Also i bought a sleeping bag for my trip.............but it was half price and some water resistant artercyx trousers which were half price and the odd thing here and there and so i had to dip into my savings the last few days.............but hopefully i can make up for it in the next few months. The next few months should be ... read more

So there i was thinking............i know i know............thinking is a dangerous pastime and especially for me...lol So i had to get my Aussie working holiday visa prior to my 30th birthday and then it dawned on me.........that if i applied for a second year id be out of the criteria as i would be heading downhill fast to 32.....lmao Now i had originally thought that if i had my first year visa and did my 3 months working on the land....id be ok..........but having checked various sites it seems to be the same criteria for a second year with the addition of the 3 years on the land remit...........i haven't seen anything that says i cant try it, however i dont want to waste 3 months for nothing. So im sticking with my one year visa ... read more

So one of my fellow bloggers raised an import question, yes its great planning and getting excited about the planning, but were do you draw the line at planning? The are parts of my tour that have been bolted on after reading about someone else's impressions and views of somewhere i may have not considered or discounted early on in my thoughts/daydreams.The are places i feel/felt i have to include to tick off my to do list, so i have been there and maybe a bit of i have been there syndrome..................lol Other places i added and now im glad i have added them. one of my trips before this jaunt, was to Russia last year and i discovered after booking the trip, that in the hardline days when you could barter with Levis in Russia, ... read more

So the planning does not stop, i have my Aussie visa and i will have paid for my ticket by the end of June. I have searched through page upon page of hostels and after a recommendation from a native New Yorker i have met, i also meet people............i will talk to anyone.............lol So anyway i have decided to got to the Big Apple hostel...one block from Time square and pretty central to most things like the empire state building, central park etc. However i will hit New York before New Year and so i would imagine everything will be pretty booked up and so i was looking into booking the hostel now, However cause of the time of year the is availability....however its $205 dollars, this equates to £104 for 4 days accommodation......... however in ... read more

So the are so many guides out there and so the choice could be limitless, the are the well known guides like Lonely Planet and Rough guide and many more less well known. I had recently seem some rough guides at £3-£4 a time which ain't bad, but i just feel the is something about the Lonely Planet guides and then i noticed some fairly cheap on ebay and then i though i would check out Amazon and to my surprise even cheaper than ebay:0) The other plus to Lonely Planet is they do shoestring guides and they do them to continents as appose to the rough guides, had i bought the rough guides they are per country......i need a bigger rucksack....lol So anyway i could have 3 shoestring continent guides with postage for £38 or ... read more

Its amazing how time fly's by...........a month from today i will be 31.................when i was in my teens i thought the 30's was old, but now im in them i still feel pretty young. Also when i hit my 31st it also means it will be June and 6 months to go!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know if it is me, but it seems as you get older that time goes quicker it doesn't feel that long ago that it was Jan and i was i Thailand and this trip/tour was a glimmer in my eye and now its racing along like an F1 car. Im now trying to create a top 5 or top places to see list for each country, when i get to each one i may go with the flow, but it always helps ... read more
