Went to York today and had a GREAT time. We did sooo much! Saw the church where Constantine was crowned emperor, the church where Guy Fawkes was baptized, Roman Baths, and about a million other things. It was so beautiful there. Tomorrow, i plan on going on the London Eye so I should have some great pics up soon. Check out the pictures I put up on the last post! I'm only sorry that I can't post all my pictures. I don't really know what else to say. The minster (the big church) was beautiful and we got to go during even' song, which was great. I can't believe how little time I have left here! only a week and a half. I am missing all of you and look forward to hearing from you! PS~ ... read more

Well, sorry I haven't posted in awhile, but life has gotten crazy for awhile. Monday I went to see Guys and Dolls, which was good. I'd forgotten alot of it since sophomore year. Then on Tuesday I just rested and did homework, pretty much a boring day. Wednesday I went to Kew Palace which was beautiful. King George III (?) the one we rebelled against in the Revolution was the one who built it and lived in it. His wife planted all these beautiful gardens and brought in wild animals like Wallabys!! they were cute! Then Thursday was the trip to Statford. There I got to see where Shakespeare was born, watch Julius Cesar by the Royal Shakespeare Company (which everyone agrees was very disappointing), and then see where Shakespeare was buried. The grave and house ... read more

After a cracking leaving do (it was good to see everyone there and have a final dance!), and a few quiet drinks at the local Prince Bonaparte pub this weekend, I am about to set off on my first stint of my trip - 4 weeks volunteering in India. The location is a hill station in the Himachal Predesh region and work is being a teachers aid and assisting at an orphanage. The first week is spent being inducted and learning about Indian regional, culture and customs, while staying with a local family in Jaipur. As yet, no freaking out about my immanent departure, I'll wait till I land in Delhi for that I think. So it is ta-ta to good friends, Talbot Road and Notting Hill …. for now. (ps this is really a test ... read more

Wow talk about an embarrasing moment. It's like 30+ degrees here and massive humidity. So i went to take a shower right, took my towel, but not my wallet. Which contained my swipe card for the 'locks as you exit your room' door. After my shower I realised I had no key for my door and noone was in the room. Had to walk down about 50m of corridoors, down a flight of stairs and to the reception wearing just a towel! Reception was packed, had to push through all these ppl to get a 1 time keycard. Nice. Luckily I was laughing the whole way because I've had soo little sleep in the past 80 or so hours that I feel like I'm super high on something. Haha. Awsome. Rack up another travel experience.... read more

Hey everybody, So we made it to Europe pretty much unharmed. Unfortunately the booze on the flight wasn't free, but somehow I still resisted peeing on the floor. The flight was pretty good, kinda scary taking off and landing - but excessive amount of gravol let us miss everything in between. We actually got into London around 3:00pm so we didn't have too much time to see stuff. We did however stop by the British museum where we saw a lot of ancient thingamabobs. It's surreal out here - everything's so different and old and people j-walk like crazy. We're going to try to catch a night train to the real good stuff (Scotland) tonight... hopefully by tomorrow we'll be eating haggis and wearing kilts! Sorry about the lack of pics so far but I forgot ... read more

The flight from Portugal to London landed me at Luton airport in the late afternoon where I exchanged my Euros for some local British currency. The notes here are ridiculously when I couldn't fit them in my wallet, I thought for a second that I had put them in sideways. My embarrassing wallet situation was eased as I exchanged a few notes for a shuttle bus ride into London's Baker Street station. Pete (who I met on Contiki) picked me up and kindly let me stay at his place. It was great to be around the familiar faces again and to be shown around by some locals. I didn’t want to outstay my welcome so after a few days of bumming I scanned the web for a decent share-house and was lucky enough to find a ... read more

So, this is what a class system looks like eh? Cheri and I have witnessed and experienced it for ourselves - first hand. When we double checked our email from HSBC regarding our bank account it said that we should ring so as to set up an appointment so that we wouldn't be inconvenienced. Odd, I thought. Well, I guess what they mean is "call us to make an appointment as we have so many people opening accounts you'll never be able to just walk in". ie, it's for their convenience. Oh well, we could but try - and if we turned up and they turned us away - we could always make an appointment and come back later. We arrived at HSBC, marked our names on the list and went into the waiting room to, ... read more

I'm in London! It's so huge. I'm so tired or sick or hungry or thirsty or something right now. I guess this is jet lag... It's almost 10pm here but god knows what my body thinks it is. I'm just grumpy and sick of everything being a rip off. It took 2 train rides, about 35mins and £21 to get to the hostel. And it don't look nearly as nice as the pictures. Gar, don't think london is my style. Anyway, must go and get food, or sleep, or drink.... not sure yet. ... read more
