we were graced by the time of the year as we got to view the State Rooms
So after along trip (for the boys) and a not so long trip fo Amanda, we all arrived safely at Heathrowe airport. Let the journey begin!! I am to assume that if you are on the email list fo this blog, you know all the people contributing to this journey! Aaron (who, I guess, spear headed the trip), Amanda (the only girl!!! Could be seen as a crazy and game woman!!), Shane (that says it all...), Steve( our resident knower of useless yet interesting facts!), and of course Cousin Matt (apparently the shy one...........AS IF).
We jumped on a train that was heading to Victoria (we hoped) and got a good laugh along the way at a few of the suburbs names. One that springs to mind immediately is the qaint little town of cockfoster. I know it sounds immature, but after that long on a plane (38hrs for the boys 23 hours for the smart one...), we needed a good laugh.
After a relatively quick train trip, we arived in down town Victoria. We jumped off the train and loaded up the back packs and strolled (Aaron ran), off to find our hostel. A few back streets, a few wrong

turns and a litle luck and we arrived at Astor Victoria, our London home!
We made our way up the FOUR FILGHTS of stairs with back packs and found our little 6 bed dorm. All looked good until we went to put our bags down in what soon became called the COS (corner of stench). Carpet is all good.......as long as it doesn't get wet! The smell was unbearable!!!!
It was named then and there and will be forever remembered as the COS.
The dust hadn't even settled and we were on the move again! Thank god no back packs this time! We walked aroung the city and looked at all the major attractions including a special visit to our Queen mothers house. We were lucky enough to look through the state rooms that are open to the public in the summer time. Who would of thought any one person would need that many rooms! Crazy but very beautiful. Unfortunately we weren't able to take any photos, but I am sure we all have some special pictures in our minds that we won't soon forget.
Our evenings were spent drinking at local pubs (surprise surprise). The beer of choice being

Big Fat and overpriced not worth the 32 pounds to sit and rotate!!
Stella ( unfortunately the only cold ber on tap). After a game of King of beers, we all decided to hit the town The boys had a night club with the classy name of 'passions' on their 'to do' list. Cameron, Amanda and Steve decided that 20 pound was a bit much and continued on to some other local pubs. Aaron, Matt and Shane followed their appendages and coughed up the 20 pounds promptly! All reports the next day told us that it was worth the 20 pounds (for them anyway). Shane reports that the sexual chocolate was worth 20 pound and more!!!!
Overall London was a pretty nice looking place.........if you are looking at the right things.....I hate to say it...but Aarons some what narrow minded name for London may be slightly right......A black hole! None the less, it was an experience that won't soon be forgotten. A good start to the Europe road trip 06!!!
We look foward to reading your comments as you join us on our european tour!
