Well, for not doing many touristy things yesterday we decided to make up for it today. We managed to go from one end of London to the other with a few stops at the Tower of London (don't ask) and we made it back to our room. Other than being a bit exhausted (I'm not quite on London time) it has been a pretty great day. I spent the day with that long-haired love of mine (Bill in case you were wondering) and Sean Michael (soccer boy extradonaire).
The day started the way it should, a brisk run in the rain followed by a traditional English breakfast and then a nap. (I told you I wasn't on London time.) We then headed to the Underground and to The Big Bus. Ok, it's a little cheesy but it's a great way to see the city and get an idea of where things off before you start wondering around on your own. As a result I have seen more tourist attractions in this city than any other one in the world including the city I live in.
We visited the British Museum for awhile. There is so much to see that
my poor brain was getting a bit overloaded. You really have to go more than once, there is just so much to see. I highly recommend the Egyptian Exhibit. It really is an incredible place.
The Tower really is a pleasant piece of history about the kindness and forgivenss of the British Monarchy. I would say more but these days us Americans don't have any moral ground. Moving right along, I suggest the tour. The guide was a good time and it was well worth putting up with the annoying tourist like I'm sure I was, even the children didn't bother me (mostly). Of course, I would have paid the price of admission just to see the Crown Jewels. Talk about accessories! And where else do you see a gold soup tureen the size of a bathtub.
As we made our way around the city, I am just amazed at how interesting the architecture is. Whether it's old buildings or new ones, everything has so much character. I feel like home is a bit bland. Of course we did see some great ideas to spruce up the entrance to our building. Now I just need to get the
HOA on my side.
Well, that gives you an idea of what the day was like. My hope is that tomorrow I will be acclimated to the time zone and I will have something a bit more scandolous to write.
See ya soon.
