Maidenhead
Lunch with Granny in Maidenhead After more than a year of living in a Spanish speaking country, we were more than ready to eat, speak and sleep in English again. It was sad to say goodbye to all our friends in Buenos Aires but the next chapter of our lives was waiting to be written...and we were excited...
Armed with our "thousands" of pesos and our life belongings in our backpacks, we arrived in London from the southern hemisphere and had our first cup of latte from Starbucks as a welcome drink!!!
Over the next few weeks we visited family and friends that were scattered across London. And it was great meeting Katharine's granny and some close friends I have only known by name. They welcomed us into their homes and took great care of us.
Some of the highlights for us would have to be:
Enjoying our first cup of latte from Starbucks at Heathrow immediately after getting out of immigration.
Bowled over by all the food offerings in Tesco, M & S, Asda and Sainsburys. Oh my goodness!!! Amazing.
Having traditional fish and chips with granny.
Reading English newspapers again.
Dining at a gastro-pub with Charlotte and James for Katharine's birthday.

At the Island watching the ducks Eating my first KFC chicken after almost 2 years
Buying our oyster cards for the tube. Not forgetting the cost.......bloody expensive man.....
Ordering our first Indian takeaway and watching the finals of EPL football with english commentary.
Seeing Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson shooting a movie near London Bridge.
Eating Nasi Lemak in the middle of St James park.
Shopping in NEXT
Walking in the cold the cold wet and grey afternoon.
Watching an English Premier League game and seeing Man U beat the pants off Chelsea
Having yummy Indian takeaway with Sian and Chris.
Finding our flat nearby a 24hr Mc D's, 24hr Tesco and 24hr Offlicense liquor store.
Jogging in a common and flats.
Drinking ale in the afternoon with beautiful blue skies in the city.
Eating dim sum after 2 years with my relatives.
Trying pork pie
Understanding road signs again.
It's funny how we miss and appreciate the simple things in life which we so often take for granted.
Apart from that we have been blessed with pretty decent weather. Most days have been sunny. I was warned many times of the
unpredictable weather here. Go figure, it was snowing 3-4 weeks before we

K and Granny arrived.
6 weeks passed so quickly and resigning from our gypsy lifestyle, we finally unpacked our backpacks and settled into our cosy 1 bedroom flat in East London which is our home for now.
Can't wait to visit the rest of UK over the next few months.......
