From London to Melbourne

Dear All,


My first post on my travel blog yay! Before talking about Melbourne and its sunny weather (already got my first sunburns!!) let's talk about my leaving drinks in London.


What an evening!! Lots of drinks los of laughs thank you everyone for coming I really appreciated your company.


Got back at David and Jenna's who kindly offered me to stay at their place, fell on my right knee on the stairs near the Arsenal Stadium ( was racing against Jenna and I won!) got bruises and I can prove it by pictures.


As you can see by the pictures we had fun!


Tuesday the 13th of November finally arrived and here I am at the airport, was quite a trip to get there though as the Tube got stuck for a while at Manor House not a surprise anyway I would never say it enough Damn London Tube!! Was too expensive for what is it.
Checked in and the agent told me I am allowed to only have 1 bag in the cabine the problem was I had two: my big handbag and my laptop bag... Call me silly but I was 100% sure the laptop bag was not considered as a bag of its own I mean it was fine last time I travelled with it and there was nothing about laptop bag being considerer as a proper one! So take note people if you travel with a laptop. After talking to the agent who told me to put everything in one bag I tried but came back to him and admitted defeat and couldn't do it. I really have to thank that guy cus he was kind enough to put my laptop bag as a luggage without any extra fee thank you whoever you are!! But my other bag was so heavy as the laptop bag was not that big I could only put 2 books and had everything else in the bag gosh luckily I found a trolley but had to empty it at the security. As it took a long time to check in with the luggage situation I couldn't enjoy my last minutes in London and spend my few quid left. So when you come I might give you my few quid first come first served so hurry up to come and see me!


The plane was almost full but luckily no baby, no offense Thelma and Imani but babies on a plane are absolute nightmares mind you I love babies but not on a plane when they are crying for the whole flight and the parents do nothing to keep them quiet!



There were many russians and one of them tried to me in Russian and about to tell her to leave me alone when I realised she wanted to swap seats so I could be near the window which I acepted of course. The other 2 seats were empty until two Norwegians asked me if they can sit here I wish I could have said no but just told them I was not sure if someone else were seated here. 5minutes they asked me again told them again I was not sure. The plane got late by 45minutes cus of last people getting aboard and it took time to load all the luggage on the plane.
Finally we took off and shortly after the 2 girls came next to me, was not very happy about this as I wanted to be by myself and have some space. They made a fuss about being seated together and for what??? For falling asleep 30minutes later wtf?? Anyway nothing much happened on the plane, the movies were not good but I watched the Transformers quite good I must say but not the best movie I have ever seen.
Fell asleep a few times and here we are near Hong Kong. The problem for me was as we got late I had only 45minutes to get through security emptied my bag again and run to the gate. When the plane landed we had to stay 10minutes on the plane and had to wait another 5minutes to get out of the plane. Luckily a guy from the airline was outside the plane so I asked him the gate for Melbourne and ran through security. It took me 15minutes to get through security and to my relief I had 20minutes before boarding and obviously after 12hours on a plane there was one thing I wanted to do: SMOKE !! And Gosh that ciggie was one of the best of my life. Knowing the Gate was Gate 2 I thought it was the closest from where I was and as you guess I was wrong of course! Realised this after buying some ciggies at the Duty Free £15.00 for 2cartons woohoo!!
Luckily I found a trolley so I could put my bag in there and run to the gate which was I think the furthest away from where I was I wasn't the last one to get there though but I boarded during the final call. In between was saying goodbye to a Korean man I met in London and wished me luck to get this bloody plane.


After all of this I had a very nice surprise: the plane was not full at all !! To make sure I would have two seats I asked one the flight attendants whether they were expecting some groups and she told me no so I was quite happy to have two seats on my own so I could stretch during the flight.


We took off and I fell asleep after 1hour and a half I was watching the last Harry Potter no offense to the HP fans but I found it quite boring !!


I kept falling asleep and getting awake but had my alarm clock who awake everyone and it took them 10minutes to realise it was mine, was half sleepy and realised this at the same time but everyone forgot about this very quickly as I apologised and everyone was half sleeping anyway including myself, was so tired I forgot to turn this alarm off.


Nothing much about this flight then we landed to Melbourne. Couldn't believe it!! Got to the Customs and the agent kindly ask me to follow her, was not really panicking as I was still asleep so just followed and actually they told me the picture on my passport was not glued anymore properly so that's why they couldn't scan the passport property but I've been told it happens many times so no problem I got accepted to Australia yay!!


Go outside for a ciggie, change my money when a guy started complaining and almost yelling and the cashier the rate is too high... What a bloody loser like if she was responsible for this rate!! He should have changed it when he was in London then !!!


Having another ciggie and thinking how on earth I made it when Jeff a nice taxi driver smoked with me and off we go to the City. During the taxi journey we talked a lot about Thailand as his parents are from there and food, nice guy.
Got to the backpacker, say goodbye to Jeff and checking in (ladies the receptionist was quiet cute!!) was filling the form when the receptionist told me I had a british accent and couldn't believe I was French well obviously he hasn't heard me talk long enough to realise I don't! Go to my room, drop off my stuff and go reading downstairs until 1 am and to my surprise I fall asleep quite quickly.


Today woke up at 7.30am but couldn't get up until 9am my back is still killing me! Go to read downstairs and hear some French there are mny french backpackers here unfortunately for me the one of this morning was the cliche one, full of ignorance and arrogant.


Weather is very nice today though this morning was very cloudy and now it is sunny and quite hot. Jetlag is hitting me a bit but it is not too bad I thought it would be worse. Went to Southbank and see the Yarra River quite nice, really love and people are very nice here too. I already took some pictures as you could see. Going to rest a bit, do a bit of laundry and tonight will go to the Yarra and check Melbourne by night.

By the way Julie there is a LUSH in Melbourne so you have no reason now not to come and Nynnke I thought about you cus I bought some Tim Tams !! How could I survive without those!

I have a new cell phone number which I emailed you.
