Ashley here. I think I will leave the eloquent posts up to Dan and just give an update on our weekend.
We spent Saturday resting in our hotel/flat. We were both tired after Friday's tour of town. On Saturday evening we went out to dinner at a Greek restaurant near the Tate Modern Art Museum. The Tate Modern has late hours on Saturdays, so we slipped in hoping to miss the crowds. It was fairly crowded, but not as bad as the National Gallery the day before. It is a fun museum and they had a good display of modern art. I think we were still a little tired because we only looked at one floor. We will have to go back.
On Sunday we took the tube out to Kew Gardens. It was a beautiful day, and we wandered around for several hours. We didn't quite hit everything, but we did have a wonderful time. We had a delicious lunch of something called a spinach and mushroom bunch with steamed vegetables. The bunch was sort of a creamy spinach and mushroom sauce wrapped in several layers of filo dough. It was very good.
After we were done
A peacock at Kew.There were quite a few birds at Kew gardens, which made Ashley very happy.
with Kew we took a boat back down the Thames to London. It was about a ninety minute ride, and was a great way to see the town. When you reach the center of london along the Thames there is a lot of bizarre modern architecture, that seems to be designed to look like big ocean liners.
Once our boat ride was finished we opted to skip the tube and stroll home. We started from Westminster Pier and walked past Buckingham palace. Then we strolled past Harrods' which unfortunately was closed (don't worry we will go back.) From there we wandered through Hyde Park and back to our flat. It was a fairly long walk. We had also walked a long way through Kew so it was a big day.
