Londonmy sister's place, having Indian buffet :)
Hello everybody! I am new on this page dedicated to travellers in the UK, I spent last year on Colombia page, went to Romania for one entry and here I am , ready to tell my storey for the ones interested to read. Ok, about the journey. I decided to go by coach from Romania to London for many reasons. First, it is the cheapest way, one way trip- 140 € ! :) and besides, 50 kg luggage + get to see all these countries, although only passing through, good enough!
Ok, so at 7.30 am on Wednesday morning I was all ready, with my luggage at the bus station where my parents dropped me off , I had to change buses in Sibiu, although the damn travel agency said it was a direct journey, and I had to drag the luggage by myself, there was no nice Colombian to offer me a hand :((. yeah...oh well...I was never a big fan of my country... yeah...and left the snowy Sibiu- which is now the famous cultural capital of the European Union, as it was crowned on the 1st of January 2007. ( It would not be that surprising to have the
1st of January declared the National Day of Romania, as our politicians are such but kissers.) Yes... well...back to our storey...the journey took 2 whole days ,and I saw..the highway...the highway and more...the highway!!Yes, Mona, very smart indeed, congrats!! You could have taken the bloody plane, and not waste 2 days doing nothing, looking at nothing and just going completely nuuuuuts!! Yes, brilliant! The journey was uneventful, boring, doing small talk with my fellow companions, watching Click- the most boring movie on Earth and Scary Movie 4 which is a total waste of time- of the time of the producers, directors, actors, and ultimately, us , the viewers. That is a Don't bother to see movie.Yes, and a lot of other crap which I don't even remember! I enjoyed however stopping every 4 hours to go take a breath of fresh air. It was good after the heat on the bus which was unbearable!
Got to London at 5.30am, after going by Euro tunnel which was quite a strange experience, I felt like trapped in that under water train, with the bus swinging and a strange sensation that we are staying, but at the same time moving, kind of nauseous
..
Oh yes, the journey was quite uneventful until we got to London, Golders Green Station.Because I run out of battery. I took out the Sim and tried to call my sis from somebody else's phone , but actually her British cell number was saved only in the phone, not on the Sim card. And the battery was completely empty, I couldn't even hold the phone on to write down my sister's phone number. And of course I didn't know it by heart!! I had no other option but to send a text to my Dad , thank God it was already 7.00 am in Romania so my parents were up! I told them to call my sis and tell her to come and pick me up! And she was there in no time! !
I didn't have a chance to write about my departure from Colombia. That one was spectacular, as I had to unpack twice, I had thirty something kg, when the limit was 20! So they made me unpack and leave stuff there, not once, but twice, as after the first unpacking there were still 27 kg, so they told me I needed to take out more
stuff and only when my luggage weighed 23 they said ok,go! I was the last passenger to board on plane and I left so many summer clothes, but put some on, desperate not to leave them behind, I was like a Cinderella, with a blue skirt over my jeans and a jumper over the clothes. Caro said I actually looked like a gypsy!! Yes, one extra kilo would have cost me 18 $ ! Ridiculous!
Yes, well...back to London. First day was sleeping, a tube ride to Bank Station where I met some friends and then Indian dinner with my sis and her boyfriend.
Dead tired!! More to come! :)
Bye Romania!me and my new haircut which I hate! Had 2 haircuts in one week and it got from bad to worse :(((
