Big BenBig Ben and a glimpse of the London Eye.
I arrived in London on October 1, 2006 and immediately began my new job. Work has been demanding and finding free time to flat-hunt and move, make contact with old and new friends, and generally settle in, was a challenge. After three months here I am nicely settled and very comfortable in my new neighborhood in north-central London and am having a wonderful time. I've had a lot of visitors come through town, including my family for a week at Christmas, and showing them around, seeing shows, and playing tourist has been really fun.
I also found time this fall for two weekend trips to Amsterdam in The Netherlands, and Brussels, Belgium, to visit friends. The ease of traveling to Europe is definitely one of the best things about living in London.
The gloomy winter weather and shortened days (the sun goes down at 4:30pm!) have not dampened my spirits - the holiday season and new years eve celebrations here were fantastic and will hopefully sustain me until spring! Happy holidays everyone!

Me in AmsterdamI love Amsterdam. I had been here once before briefly on a business trip but had more time to explore on this weekend trip while visiting a friend living in The Hague.
Grand Place, BrusselsMy first trip to Brussels to visit two good friends living there for an ex-pat Thanksgiving.
Grand Place againWe had beautiful weather for walking around Brussels. So nice to be in a place where people are speaking French!
