Hallo!!!
So this picture you all see, which is also currently my default picture on my facebook profile, is a little creation that took some time to put together. The school sponsored an 8 mile...yes, 8 mile bike ride through London, and I went! (can you believe it?). It was soooo much fun and the weather was beautiful!
I was talking with Joe as we were preparing to leave, and I was thinking about what I should wear. I took out my black underarmor spandex type pants and then had the idea to make myself look as ridiculous as I could. I am almost done with my time here (very very sad subject), and figured might as well have some fun with it. I made sure to find sunglasses though before I began this dress up, because even though I'm not famous, with sunglasses, people won't be able to recognize me, and I felt anonymous. (Just accept my logic please).
So as you see, the outfit consisted of the underarmor black pants, a vineyard vines bathing suit on top. My white tennis sneakers with brown socks pulled up high. A tight black shirt, with my jacket, sunglasses, and
my hair in a mohawk. Keep in mind, we went ALL AROUND LONDON.
The looks I got on the tube and in the crowded parks were absolutely hilarious!
As you know, my parents were here last week and we really had an amazing week together! We did so much and got so much accomplished, to go into detail about it all would take 4-5 blog entries, so I decided to do a condensed version of each day below. Enjoy! (Check Wednesday for Billy Elliot)
Monday: After arriving back from Paris on Sunday, our first stop was Buckingham Palace. Since Tuesday were were going to Changing of the Guard, I wanted them to see the palace when it wasn't crowded. We then went to the Royal Mews and saw all the Royal carriages and stalls where they keep the horses. It was very cool. We then continues our royal day and went to Kensington Palace to have Afternoon Tea. It was DELICIOUS!!! We then walked through Kensington Park and headed over to the Beavis Marks Synagogue, which is the oldest one in Europe. The funny thing...it was closed for Easter Monday.
Tuesday: As said, we went to
see the Changing of the Guard....which sucked! Don't go. They Queen's Royal Band played "Somewhere Over The Rainbow"...oh, I know. I then headed off to class, where my parents met me after to see the school and meet some of the staff. We then headed to lunch and split again for my night class. My parents went to the British Museum and absolutely loved it! Tara and I then left school after our classes and met my parents for a very nice and relaxing dinner. 3 glasses of wine and a mojito each later, Tar and I were on our way home and bid farewell to the parents until the next day.
Wednesday: THE SHOPPING DAY! What a great day, and maybe my favorite out of all of them. I got a few new shirts, a new pair of shoes, and an Everton Warm-Up Collar Shirt (which I proudly wore yesterday after they beat Man United to go to the FA Cup Finals!) We explored Covent Garden, Oxford Circus, and Piccadilly Circus. Many hours later, and after a good Fish and Chips for lunch, we dropped off our bags and headed to dinner by the theatre. The show of
choice for that night was (you should know by know) Billy Elliot.
The show was absolutely UNBELIEVABLE. I think it shot up to my number 1 or 2 favorite musicals of all time. The only reason I can honestly say that I refuse to pay to see the same musical more than once, is why do so when there are so many to see? This would be a clear exception. I am definitely going to see it in NY upon my return. For the first time in my life, there was a part in the show when the audience started to applaud, and I had actually forgot there was an audience surrounding me. I was taken back and confused for a second. The story is great, the acting was great, the singing was amazing, and the boy that played Billy was SOOO talented it was incredible. When I got home that night, I was compelled to watch the movie, so I did. Billy Elliot gets a 6 out of 5 Gold Bergs.
Thursday: My parents took a trip to see Stonehenge, Windsor Castle, and Bath.
Friday: Took a tour of the Tower of London, where the guides
are hilarious! We walked across the Tower Bridge and went to Harrods, where we spent a while looking all around it and decided to eat dinner there. It was a nice relaxing day, finishing up the things on their London list that wasn't done. We then went back to their hotel, hung out for a little bit, and said our goodbyes, as the following morning they departed back to the United States.
Trivia Answer: We have had (unless I missed one or two people) a total of 31 people (not included my flatmates or I) sleep over in our flat this semester.
Trivia Question: What are the major political parties of the UK government?
Londoner,
Sir Darren Nigel Goldberg III of Maida Vale
