Right, first’s things first, don’t expect a lyrical masterpiece as this is going to be very much a visual journey. Over the coming weeks and months I want to share with family and friends some of the sights from my trips. Today is day one (of seven!) to get to St Helena, nestled in the middle of the south Atlantic and 1,200 miles from the nearest mainland coast that is Angola! Not that straight forward to get to as you might think as access is still only by ship! Today (Friday) starts with a flight from London to Johannesburg. Tomorrow is an onward flight to Windhoek - the capital of Namibia - and then Sunday a quick 50 minute flight to Walvis Bay on the West Africa coast; from where I will pick up the RMS St Helena. For those who want to monitor the ship go to http://www.rms-st-helena.com/ and click on the ship locator.
