Tour of working farm in galway Sorry for the lack of updates, internet has been scarce; same with internet cafes. I've still had no luck finding a memory card slot for my camera, so the photos I do post will be from my phone that I've emailed. We're currently in London after a nice and somewhat interesting last few days in Ireland.
To continue on about Galway, the pics attached are from the Cliffs of Moher, as wel as our visit to a working farm and a hike deep into the hills - beautiful landscape!
Later on in our trip after leaving Ennis, we headed down the coast farther to Cork, where we stayed a night in Sheila's Hostel which was fairly decent. We met an Australian Cameron that night in the common room area, and agreed to go check out Blarney Castle the next day together! We must have spent 4 hours at the castle walking around the grounds, doing a lake walk, kissing the stone, and oohing and ahhing at all of the ruins. Unfortunately the weather wasnt that great, be there were a few moments of sunshine. Our second night in Cork, we then left Sheila's Hostel to experience our first time
couchsurfing!
Couchsurfing was definitely...interesting. A friend of ours in Galway had recommended a guy named Mick who he stayed with, so Sasha and I finally found our way to his house after about 45 min of getting lost, and didn't quite know what to expect. To be honest, we walked into a house that had 6 ppl living in it as well as 4 of Mick's friends staying over to go out that night. It was a little awkward at first, but in the end it ended up being a pretty fun night. We played some drinking games, and walked into town - only to have to turn around because everything was closed. We ended up out until about 2am or so, then headed back to the house where Mick's friend Murray offered us to sleep in his bed and he'd take the couch. That was very nice of him, considering Mick hadn't come back with us and we were at a loss of where it was exactly we were supposed to sleep...
The next morning we quietly left around 7am to find our way back to the bus depot (that was supposed to be only 5min away),
and then headed to Cork Airport to fly here to London!#
Having settled into our hostel near Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, we were lucky enough to have the room to ourselves! There were 3 sets of bunkbeds, 3 high, and we definitely enjoyed having the peace and quiet. We didn't go out our first night because we did a ton of sight seeing stuff that day. We walked thru the Kensington Gardens and Hyde park where we walked through the Princess Diana memorial trail/fountain area so beautiful, saw some unique statues, and lots of dogs which made me miss Bella. We were lucky to have some nice weather at that time so EVERYONE was out playing fetch with their pooches. We then got some dinner then came home to sleep and relax. Then yesterday, we walked all the way to Buckingham Palace where it just so happens they were doing a changing of the guards! That was really neat to watch but way too crowded. Later on saw Big Ben, Parliment House, The London Eye (which we still need to go up in), as well as Westminister Abbey! I personally found the Abbey, and the Parliment House/Big Ben
grandma's apple pie
at the end of the working farm tour we went to Grandma's house for treats way more impressive than Buckingham Palace. The architecture was crazy amazing; so detailed and intricate. Really impressive.
Today we've left the hostel after our two nights and are staying with Sasha's dad's girlfriends son (if you can follow that) for the next two evenings. We're debating staying another night after the next two days, but we'll see how our sight-seeing goes. We're both beyond bummed that Harry Potter is sold out until July! 😞 Oh well, that'll just have to be another trip! We're headed to Trafalgar Square soon, then meeting up with Sasha's friend Nicola who is going to show us around a bit. Then finally back to Seann's house for some much needed rest. We ended up going out last night in Picadilly Square; somewhat boring to be honest at first - I mostly believe that is because I am way beyond tired - but we met some American's at the club we were at and had fun spending time with them. Unfortunately my flats completely died. I knew it was coming; after the first day just at the airport they were already having a tough time staying together. With the monsoon rain coming down, puddles, and
walking for hours, they finally just disinegrated and fell apart. My feet are way sore today, but I'm sure that will pass.
We're both beyond ready for warm sunny weather, so we're debating on cutting our trip to Germany short - originally we were thinking of spending a week there, but we'll see. I'm excited to head to Belgium next; specifically Bruges. Apparently it's a World Heritage UNESCO site. The whole city! Crazy!
I'll do a picture post if I can sometime soon of photos from England - was trying to finish up Ireland in this post. Got to go, time's running out! Until next time...
