Take from the Live Webcam Hello all!
First of all, let me just start this blog by saying YES, we are safe from all the riots. We have had quite an interesting week, with tube stations closing, shops being shut early, police patroling the streets, and nearby towns burning, and being looted. A few of the friends we've made here were right in the areas affected by the London Riots, but all have escaped unharmed and untouched by rioting morons. When Ealing was set upon, it was quite worrying, as thats only 15ish minutes from Acton Town, and we have visited there quite often. In fact we were there only earlier that day! Anyways, enough on the riots. You all heard about in on the news. We are safe, all good. Didn't get to go see Phantom of the Opera because of the riots closing stations and streets being unsafe... but I guess in the end, its only money we lost.
Ok, so thats the worst of London that we've seen. We still love it here.
Now to some of the other fun stuff we've been up to. It's been a while since we've blogged, so I'll try to remember the best bits
Ripleys
posing on our 4th walk through the spinning tunnel. rather than bore you with my obsession with the 99p store... hehe!
Craig started his new job, as an electrician. He got to hold the 2012 Gold Medal at one of his works sites, Rio Tinto, who are supplying all the medals for the Olympics. (I said he started his job, he hasnt done much work) haha! I on the other hand am on school holidays, so have been trying to find temporary work... so far, I'm employed with 4 agencies... mostly schools and nurseries, and one hospitality. But thats the boring stuff of our life in London. Onto the funner stuff!
We've been doing a few touristy things lately.
We went to the London Dungeon which was fun and a lil bit scary.
Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, where i held George Clooneys hand just cos I knew my Mum would want me to. Craig had a peek at Marilyn Monroe's waxed parts. haha!
For Craig's birthday we went into Leicester Square, went to Ripleys Believe It or Not, we saw a Theatre show, and drank cocktails at a fancy bar. We also set off fireworks in the park, that we bought ourselves... Its totally legal to buy
Fireworks
We bought fireworks and set them off in the park for Craig's Birthday. fireworks here. We aussies love this fact.
We finally went to the local tavern "the Redback", which is an aussie bar renown for its dodgy-ness and good times. They have a deadly 3hrs of Power there on a Sunday night, where you get spirits for 1 quid each. this has killed us the last 2 Sundays in a row.
We went to the Bank of England Museum, so we should be able to tell you all about how inflation works, but we got bored, and distracted by the shiny coins and instead played with the 13kg solid gold bar, worth approx 430,000 pound. We got to lift it and touch it... oooh ahhh... That small bar was worth more than Craig's house, and probably more than yours as well...
For Craig's birthday present, I bought him a Super Cars Experience, which allowed him to drive his choice of 3 out of 4 cars around a track at an airfield that was ages away... He ended up chosing the Lotus, Ferrari and Porsche, but the Porsche suffered at the hands of a poor driver and had its gearbox ripped apart before Craig got his shot... so they upgraded his package to

Take from the Live Webcam an Audi. Check out the pics, cos I don't talk enough car to describe them properly... One was reaaaaaaaal shiny... hehe!
We finally went to Harrods, getting lost in the many floors and levels and departments that are there. If you like, you can purchase a pair of Muhammed Ali's training gloves, signed for only 74,000 pound... BARGAIN! Couldn't afford anything in Harrods, even their Harrods brand calico bags were 9.95!!
Craig's Birthday party was a Monopoly Pub Crawl- For those of you who don't know, that involves visiting and drinking at a pub on every stop of the Monopoly Board. Starting at 10am and finishing after midnight, we managed to complete all 26 pubs! Massive effort, but lots of fun.
We went to the Foodies Festival, where Craig had a coconut filled with rum... to which we added more rum, because there were so many free samples! So much food and drink to try, was a great day! I even managed to get sunburnt! Who knew there was sun in London!?
We also visited Abbey Road Crossing, where the Beatles did their famous album cover. Took us a few goes to get it right, but I think we did
Ripleys
posing on our 4th walk through the spinning tunnel. eventually... We were applauded by a few tour groups, so I assume that meant we looked good.
We followed the memorial messages through Camden Town to Amy Winehouse's house. Saw her favourite pub, and all the "gifts" and messages left by her fans... empty beer bottles, cans, cigarettes, as well as the usual, flowers and teddy bears...
Anyways, thats the good stuff we've been doing. Don't forget that even in bad circumstances, there is still good. We're not put off London, and if you're not either, then, our couch is always free.
We're off to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival tomorrow- just heading to Scotland for the weekend, cos, that's what we can do. We'll be back Monday with many more stories to tell I'm sure. We just have to remember to update our blog.
Love to all!
