Hey guys 😊
Here is the final blog for the 6 month adventure I have just finished.
For those of you who may not know what I've done, I have just been to Perth, Australia to do a DTS (Discipleship Training School) with YWAM (Youth With A Mission).
January to the end of March I lived at the YWAM Perth base and was taught about God, each week covering a different topic including hearing God's voice, the nature and character of God and the Father heart of God. During this time I lived in community with people from a variety of different nations and backgrounds; eating together, working together, cleaning together, learning together, worshiping God together, supporting each other and loving life together.
From April to the end of June I went on outreach which was the application part of the school where teams would go into different countries to bring God's hope to people, help those in need and to generally serve people where and when we could. For 2 months I went to Indonesia where I visited prisons & orphanages, worked with churches, supported other YWAM bases, worked with children, handed out operation christmas child shoe boxes and helped out in a variety of other ways. For the last month I went to Port Hedland, Australia where I worked in high schools teaching teenagers about how to maintain positive relationships and helped out with the kids work at a church weekend away.
During the last 6 months I have learnt so much, have seen some massive changes in those around me and have witnessed change and healing in my own life. God seems so much more real to me than He ever has before; I have seen Him move in amazing ways and I can also see how He has moved in my life up until now.
The 6 months may have ended but I am learning new things every day and am seeing God move in great ways. God highlighted a number of things to me towards the end of the school. One of these these is the need to positively communicate with those around me. For so long I have dealt with things by bottling them up and shutting people out which has led to bitterness building up inside me and instead of dealing with any worries or misunderstandings I've had I've held onto them which has limited me and the relationships I've had with other people. Another thing that God is starting to teach me is about my self-worth; one which isn't based on what people think about me or about what I have to offer the world but one that is based on how He sees me - as His precious daughter who He loves without comparison, who He loves with unfailing kindness and everlasting love...not because of what I can offer Him but because of who He is and His love for me. God is good and His love for me will never change 😊
So yer it has been a crazy 6 months which have been full of highs and full of challenges and struggles but God has brought me through the other end a changed person.
I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported me over the last 6 months through prayer, finances, encouragement and following this blog. To say I have enjoyed the last 6 months would be an epic understatement; it has been a truly great experience and I loved it! Thank you so so much for all your support, it really really really has been appreciated! Each one of you has been a massive blessing to me and I am just so thankful for the ways in which you supported me through the last 6 months! THANK YOU :D
The DTS may have ended but the adventure continues. I am hoping to go back to Perth at the end of October to become staff at YWAM Perth so there will be many more blogs in the future...hopefully a more reasonable length but hopefully as encouraging if not more encouraging than I've heard these blogs have been!
Thank you again for all the love and support you have given me over the last 6 months! Once again it has been greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten!
Much love and blessings to you all!
Rachel
