Airport Car Parkz had a busy summer in 2011. Things didn't always run smoothly however we recovered well and continued to offer a competitive secure airport parkingservice to passengers at London Luton Airport. Recurring customers would have seen some improvements to Airport Car Parkz Park and Ride service. The ageing Transit mini buses were replaced by a fleet of 17 seater Mercedes Benz 811 vehicles that offer a more leisurely transfer to and from the Luton Airport terminal. New traffic-easing layouts around the terminal and its approaches have made it feasible for us to offer a more sensible transfer schedule.

Early travellers will remember the traffic chaos some mornings and succeeding delays brought on by entering and exiting vehicles crossing over at the terminal roundabout. Airport planners came up with a solution that sends all traffic across the parimeter of the short term car park which has improved the flow in that area at least. The latest designated Meet and Greet area was also provided even though it has proved to be confusing for some customers and annoying for a couple of others.

Even so our courtesy transfer busses continue to run 24 hours a day at 10-15 minute intervals. In busy periods, if all the waiting passengers are unable get on one bus they will not normally be kept waiting more than 15 minutes. Drivers are mindful of their turnaround times and will try to accommodate passengers even when some are mostly bullish or seek to skip queues. Even with this thankfully rare stampede mentality, which has been hard for our bus drivers to manage previously, it remains to be a reliable service that pulls favourable remarks from many flyers.

Recent flyers may have witnessed additional enhancements to the safe car parking area. They will have recognized new parimeter fencing and a security barrier to ensure better control of vehicles entering or leaving the secure area. New security cameras provide round-the-clock surveillance of all activity in the car park and will record the registration numbers of all vehicles.
