
In the famed “Most Breathtaking Country” Contest, judged by the Charters, Norway now has a new fierce competitor: Switzerland. Wow, is Switzerland amazing. We went there for a week partially to celebrate my birthday (which somehow keeps coming faster and faster) and to just have a relaxing getaway. We stayed in a small town, Adelboden, in the Alps.
Among the many enjoyable parts of our stay were view of the mountains from our room, really friendly townspeople, being able to get into the mountains for a hike in only a few minutes, Swiss cheese (yum), and Swiss chocolate (double yum). Switzerland also boasts the worlds cutest lawnmowers: there are hundreds of cows everywhere, munching away! They wear bells and all day there is a lovely chiming sound in the distance. We took chairlifts that go from mountain to mountain, went up probably one of the steepest trains in the world—it went straight up a 7749 foot mountain, and got to see a waterfall from the top and bottom. We were literally above the clouds on some days, and for a girl who doesn’t love heights, this was quite a feat.

Train.The train is angled so that when you ride in it you are not literally lying down. This pic shows the shape of the train which gives you an idea of how steep it is to get to the top.

The track. If you follow the track you can see that it just goes straight up. There are no pictures until the top because I, for one, had to close my eyes!

Clouds.The map shows the different countries you can see including France and Germany.
